The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program may be available to you as a veteran attending New York University.

The program is a scholarship designed to help students supplement their Post 9/11 GI Bill® tuition benefits and was instituted as a provision as part of the Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

As part of the program:

  • Eligible veteran students can receive grants from NYU to use toward tuition and fees. Veterans’ Affairs (VA) will then match our contribution.
  • The amount of the Yellow Ribbon award is determined by the amount you receive through other benefits provided to you as an eligible student. As a result, you may not qualify for the maximum amount each year.
  • Your Post 9/11 benefits will be applied toward tuition and fees first.
  • You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements to continue to be eligible for Yellow Ribbon funding.

Yellow Ribbon Program Awards

As an undergraduate at New York University, you may receive a combination of veteran’s benefits, Yellow Ribbon benefits, and NYU scholarship that amounts to, but does not exceed, the cost of your tuition and fees.

If you are a graduate student receiving Yellow Ribbon funds, you should check with your school to see if your scholarship or institutional aid eligibility will be affected.

Undergraduate and graduate students receiving Yellow Ribbon funds may find other sources of financial aid, as well, if the total amount being awarded exceeds the cost of attendance.
