Current Service Status: Last Updated July 8, 2024

Lost and Found is open offering regular business hours with an hour closure from 1-2 p.m. for lunch.

Lost and Found will be closed July 15-19. Items may be picked up at 370 Jay Street or 561 LaGuardia Place during this period. The phone lines will not be monitored. Please email lost.found@nyu.edu with inquiries.

The Department of Campus Safety (DCS) is the central repository for valuables found by members of the NYU community. Our Property Control function keeps items safe and secure and we proactively work to return belongings to their owners in a prompt manner when feasible.

Please note that NYU's Department of Campus Safety does not collect items from NYU Langone Health facilities. If you lost an item at an NYU Langone Health facility, we recommend contacting their Lost and Found team at (212) 263-0929.

If you have lost an item, please email us at lost.found@nyu.edu for assistance. You can also call us at 212.998.1305 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Pickup times for lost items are as follows:

  • Monday: 12 to 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday through Thursday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If you are unable to pick up your item during one of the above times, please email lost.found@nyu.edu to make alternate arrangements.

If you find a lost item in an NYU facility, please turn the item into a uniformed NYU Campus Safety Officer or bring the item directly to the lobby at 7 Washington Place during business hours, or 561 LaGuardia Place after hours.

Please note that items received by Lost and Found will be kept by the Department of Campus Safety for 30 days, after which they will be removed from inventory and either discarded or donated to a local charity.
