Dinner with Six

If you are an alum interested in hosting a Dinner with Six, please fill out the interest form and the Alumni Relations office will contact you with the next steps.

Dinner with Six is organized around a four-week block during the fall semester in NYC, and during the spring semester in NYC, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, and other global locations. Hosts may register for one of the dates during this time period. Dinner start times are up to the host, though most dinners begin between 6 PM and 7 PM.

Hosts may host their dinner at a location of their choosing, whether at home or at a favorite restaurant. We ask that the location be accessible by public transport and within close proximity to NYU.

The average group size is six students.  

We appreciate the generosity of our hosts. Unfortunately, NYU is unable to reimburse dinner expenses.

Yes. If you prefer to host students from a specific school(s), please share those details when you accept the offer to host. Attendee preferences will be added to your dinner details on the student registration page. Note: student registration is first come, first served; 100% exclusivity of your target audience is not guaranteed.

Students can register for a dinner of their choosing, which may be based on professional interests, shared hobbies, NYU activities etc. Dinners with detailed host descriptions (e.g. information about career, interests, NYU engagement) are more likely to fill. We ask hosts to provide as much information as possible when they register.

Though we emphasize commitment expectations to students in all of our communications, please note that late cancellations and additions are common. We will try our very best to fill open spots during the week of dinners and notify hosts as soon as changes arise. We appreciate your understanding.

Yes. We will email hosts a student guest list with names, ages, schools, dietary restrictions, special needs, and other details approximately one week before the dinner and/or as the dinner reaches capacity. Since there are often changes leading up to the dinner, we stay in close contact with students and hosts, and notify hosts as updates or cancellations arise.

Yes, based on national laws. If providing alcohol, we ask hosts to use their discretion and only serve to those who are of legal drinking age (21+). Ages are provided in the student guest lists sent to hosts before the dinner. It may be helpful to make a pre-meal announcement to remind students under 21 to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages.
