How to Apply

First, get nominated by one of our partner schools.

CCTOP partners with several divisions at NYU including the College of Arts and Science Humanities Programs, School of Professional Studies–Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, Silver School of Social Work, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and the Rory Meyers College of Nursing.

The nomination process allows us to know of your potential eligibility and gets CCTOP involved in the process. It also gets you a fee waiver for the application. Ideally, this process is early in the semester before you apply. The online form can be completed by any faculty member or an administrator.

Undergraduate Admissions uses the Common Application only. The Common Application is required for students applying as transfers to CCTOP. If you are applying to NYU's College of Arts and Science, Silver School of Social Work, Rory Meyers College of Nursing, or Steinhardt, please ensure that you complete the Common Application for Transfer Students. For students applying to NYU's School of Professional Studies, complete SPS's undergraduate admissions process

• In completing that application, you will indicate that you're a transfer, and on the NYU Supplement, it will ask you for the school and program of choice, (with the exception of the NYU School of Professional Studies-Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, which uses a different application) or CCTOP. Be sure to complete the supplement (accessible through the online Common Application), as it asks for specific information and personal statements in addition to the rest of the application, and the application will not submit correctly without it.
• Application Deadlines are March 1 (priority) and April 1 (final) for Fall applicants, and October 1 (priority) and November 1 (final) for Spring applicants. 
• All applicants are required to submit sealed, official transcripts from high school and all colleges attended.
• We do not require SAT or ACT results for transfer applicants with more than 30 earned college credits. To that end, the high school transcript is required, but only because we're required to have proof of graduation in your file. Your college GPA is a big thing.
• Personal statements are exactly that – personal, and brief. It should be 250-650 words talking about yourself. We want to learn about who you are through your goals and aspirations.
• The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does not conduct personal interviews, but we view the personal essay as a way to get to know you.  The essay is all about you, your goals, and your path. This is your opportunity to stand out!
  
• An audition or portfolio for art and music programs at the Steinhardt School.
• For SPS admissions only, complete the undergraduate admissions process, by August 1 for the fall semester and by January 1 for the spring semester.

All transfer applicants are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Admissions will begin sending out decisions generally within a few weeks after the deadline, and continue on a rolling basis as applications are completed. Financial Aid award information generally follows about two weeks later, as long as you have completed and submitted the FAFSA.
