Undergraduate students at NYU are expected to complete their degree at the home campus to which they were admitted (New York, Abu Dhabi, or Shanghai). In exceptional circumstances, students may request a transfer from Abu Dhabi or Shanghai to New York. This process is not the same as transferring internally from one undergraduate school in New York to another. There is no process by which a student can transfer from New York to either Abu Dhabi or Shanghai.

Transfer Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to submit a transfer application from Abu Dhabi or Shanghai to New York:

  • Students must be in good academic standing
  • Students must have completed 2 consecutive semesters of study at their home campus
  • Students must be pursuing an academic interest not available on their home campus

Students are encouraged to consult with their deans and/or academic advisors before submitting an application for transfer. Oftentimes, those meetings can result in alternative solutions that do not require changing campuses.

Financial Aid Considerations

Financial aid packages do not transfer in the case of a cross-campus transfer.. While a student would still be eligible for loans, any institutional aid awarded is uniquely awarded to the student based on their original campus of admission and enrollment.
