Our incredible Board Co-Chair Carmen Villar speaking on true collaboration at the Health Equity Forum. Truth!
At the heart of our mission is the power of collaboration and intentionality in tackling health equity issues. As Carmen Villar, former VP of social business innovation at Merck and now VP of ESG, Corporate Citizenship, and Public Affairs at Gilead Sciences, brilliantly stated during the 2023 Health Equity Forum's Inaugural event, "Let's leave our coats of color at the door." The 2024 Health Equity Forum time and date will be announced soon! Celebrating AAPI Heritage month at New Jersey Performing Arts Center with Ascend NJ at our special corporate partners and friends reception. So much fun!! It’s all part of the incredible PSEG True Diversity Film Series showcasing social justice-related films, leaders and community members and advancing real conversations and connections around equity, inclusion and belonging. Our featured film was Baldwin Chiu’s FarEastDeepSouth.com, which I can’t recommend highly enough! What a touching and beautiful story of this American family with Chinese roots and their early experiences in a small Mississippi town. (And shoutout to growing up with San Francisco dim sum and to my hometown of San Bruno, CA, featured in the film!) Thank you to my brilliant colleagues Donna Walker-Kuhne, Kitab Rollins, Daniela Fonseca and Salina Lostan for producing such a great event (and everyone at NJPAC who made this possible) and the fabulous Darius Chen for his partnership and collaboration. #businessnetworking #standinginsolidarity #equityinclusiondiversity #aapi

Congratulations HAX on the grand opening! What a pleasure to be at the event, tour the incredible space and meet some of the founders who are advancing really exciting work. They're changing the world through hard tech and New Jersey Performing Arts Center is doing it through the arts. Happy to have these great neighbors in Newark!
𝗦𝗢𝗦𝗩’s HAX, investors for early stage hard tech startups, held the official grand opening of their global headquarters space, located in downtown Newark. HAX invests in and provides hands-on support for companies focused on human and planetary health, and advanced manufacturing & supply chain technologies to enable near-shoring of production. Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Governor Phil Murphy, and elected officials provided remarks on the reindustrialization of the U.S. and Newark. Mayor Baraka would join a tour of the 35,000 square foot facility with HAX leadership. Newark is the home of innovation, industry, and now the home of SOSV's HAX. We are proud of the companies and industries paving their way in Newark. We look forward to the successes of all companies in Newark and we would like to send best wishes to SOSV.
