“Far East Deep South” a PSEG True Diversity Film deeply resonated with me and many others that are brought up in immigrant families, those that have strived for better opportunities, sought a fair livelihood at the cost of being away from family, overcame adversity with the hope of spreading diversity and built a home away from home. Most of all being resilient while owning 100% of your identity and being proud of it all! Thanks to @Darius Chen for his commitment and passion towards DEI and for bringing us together for this event during the AAPI Heritage month and allowing for networking opportunities. Thanks to the sponsoring companies and exclusive panel session! PSEG Prudential Financial @NJPAC Mars #ascendnj #inclusion #blackasianallyship

In light of Asian Pacific American heritage month, Ascend NJ featured the “Far East Deep South”, a PSEG True Diversity film this week with an exclusive panel including Jennifer F. Rasing, Baldwin Chiu Michael Hyun @Linda McDonald Carter and Professor Jack Tchen. Thank you again to the team at NJPAC Valerie Blau Donna Walker-Kuhne @Kitab Rollins @Salina Lostan for an evening to remember! This story was very familiar and resonated well for those brought up in immigrant families - people who strived for better opportunities, sought for a fair livelihood at the cost of being away from family, overcame adversity with hopes of building a diverse community and a home away from home. Most importantly, it was heart-warming to see the spirit of resilience while bringing forth their authentic selves to those around them. Thanks to Darius Chen and all the volunteers for your commitment and passion towards DEI and for bringing us together for this incredible opportunity to network and advance meaningful conversations. Thanks to the sponsoring companies and the all panelists! PSEG Mars Prudential Financial Ascend

Another great event (evening) by Ascend NJ at New Jersey Performing Arts Center - this time to celebrate Asian Heritage Month. Pay close attention to the words in yellow highlight - the movie is a touching example of true "Ally-ship" (and not just some fancy words on a slide deck). Equally more meaningful was the conversation with Michael Hyun Jennifer F. Rasing Linda McDonald Carter and Professor Jack Tchen!! Darius Chen - Thank you for your continued leadership! And special thanks to wonderful sponsors PSEG Mars Bristol Myers Squibb. Cherry on top being our gracious host New Jersey Performing Arts Center!!! With Masroor K. Happy AAPI Heritage Month! What a spectacular example of what is possible at the intersection of passion and partnership, with some awesome collaborators! Far East Deep South is such a powerful story to set the stage for rich and meaningful discussion - the importance of discovering our history and stories, standing in solidarity with each other, and taking action to create the world we want tomorrow by finding ways to ground ourselves in our shared humanity. Thank you again to the team at NJPAC Valerie Blau Donna Walker-Kuhne Kitab Rollins Salina Lostan & the incredible panelists Baldwin Chiu Jennifer F. Rasing Michael Hyun Linda McDonald Carter & Professor Jack Tchen for an evening to remember! Also appreciative of the sponsorship from our associate resource group executive sponsor Yan Gu who sits on the NJPAC board, local responsible corporates PSEG, Mars & Prudential Financial among many others, & organizations like Ascend NJ, to make events like these possible. This comes just days after our amazing internal Mars kickoff event led by Anna Musgraves, MBA Girish Gupta Radhika P. Christina Ray, attended by more than 250 associates! Hard to believe we’re only 1 week in to our AAPI Heritage Month - can’t wait to bring more of these examples of leading together to life! #proudlymars #tomorrowstartstoday #blackasianallyship #community #newarknj #ascendleadership #ascendnj #equityinclusiondiversity #belonging
Celebrating AAPI Heritage month at New Jersey Performing Arts Center with Ascend NJ at our special corporate partners and friends reception. So much fun!! It’s all part of the incredible PSEG True Diversity Film Series showcasing social justice-related films, leaders and community members and advancing real conversations and connections around equity, inclusion and belonging. Our featured film was Baldwin Chiu’s FarEastDeepSouth.com, which I can’t recommend highly enough! What a touching and beautiful story of this American family with Chinese roots and their early experiences in a small Mississippi town. (And shoutout to growing up with San Francisco dim sum and to my hometown of San Bruno, CA, featured in the film!) Thank you to my brilliant colleagues Donna Walker-Kuhne, Kitab Rollins, Daniela Fonseca and Salina Lostan for producing such a great event (and everyone at NJPAC who made this possible) and the fabulous Darius Chen for his partnership and collaboration. #businessnetworking #standinginsolidarity #equityinclusiondiversity #aapi
