I am so appreciative of all who follow me.
In celebration of hitting this insane milestone, I thought I would take a moment to re-introduce myself to new followers and tell you a little about me.
I typically post about design and never myself, and I am super shy about selfies, so this is a rare moment on LinkedIn for me lol.
1️⃣📝 The reason I started creating content on LinkedIn:
I have never seen more difficult times than what we face now in the industry.
I hear the same questions continually. I knew that if a small portion of people continually ask similar things, there must be many more with the same curiosity.
With layoffs, design hiring changes, and confusion - I wanted to help.
I became way more serious about mentoring.
I started listening more intently to concerns.
One day, I simply started posting.
And it was scary.
But here we are, together.
In this and learning side-by-side.
I have taken time off from content for a while.
In transparency, I got down by all the conflicting information I saw.
I didn't want to contribute to the problem.
And I thought I might be.
But, with much reflection, I am coming back.
I want to stick to my initial "why" - to help.
2️⃣ 🎭 I'm a theatre major. Yep, you heard that right. I've always been a creative at heart. I grew up in theatre and music. Yet, the analytics side of my brain was never satisfied. I took a left turn into design, and here I am. I have a very untraditional path into product design.
3️⃣ 🧠 I have ADHD. I've worked for years on focus habits and task skills. It's now become one of my favorite parts about me. So many hobbies. (Hyperfocus for the win)
4️⃣ ⛳ I have been a golfer since high school, albeit a poor one. It's the only thing that helps with focus. The golf course is my happy place.
5️⃣ 🐶 I have three ridiculously high-maintenance dogs. 1 Shih Tzu and 2 Malshis.
6️⃣ 👶 I have three ridiculously cute kids. (a set of twins included in that bunch).
7️⃣ 😬 I am a chronic overextender. I usually have 18 projects going at once and always have some on the back burner ready to start.
8️⃣ 🛠️ I consider myself a builder at this point of my career. I build teams, processes, and skills.
9️⃣ 🏈 I am a massive sports fan. I have followed the Kansas City Chiefs since I was a kid and am obsessed with Arsenal.
🔟 🎸 I play guitar. I am way better at buying them than I ever have been at playing them.
