Reflecting on Friday’s visit from Senator Richard Blumenthal in the Ketch HQ, I’m reminded of the power of dialogue and diverse perspectives in shaping our privacy landscape. 💡 From day one of planning this visit, my goal was to bridge the gap between legislators and innovative tech companies like ours. It’s crucial that voices beyond the giants of Silicon Valley shape our data privacy laws. After all, innovation doesn’t just happen in the sprawling campuses of Google or Apple; it’s alive and thriving here at Ketch. I’m deeply grateful to Senator Blumenthal for prioritizing this conversation and showing a genuine willingness to collaborate with us. It's a refreshing reminder that thoughtful policy can be driven by more than just deep pockets—it can be fueled by genuine innovation and a commitment to the public good. A heartfelt thank you, Senator, for engaging with us and considering diverse viewpoints in your work. Your commitment to understanding the nuances of data privacy from all angles doesn’t just resonate with us at Ketch—it’s a hopeful sign for all who believe in the potential of technology to enhance privacy rights. #DataPrivacy #Innovation #Legislation
🇺🇸 What an honor 🇺🇸 Friday, we welcomed U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal to the Ketch San Francisco HQ. Senator Blumenthal is a passionate advocate for privacy rights – calling it “𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.” His visit underscored not just the importance of privacy legislation, but the critical conversations and work happening at Ketch. 🚀 In our town hall and executive discussion, we discussed issues including: ➡️ Hurdles facing the #APRA and what stands in the way of a U.S. federal law being passed. ➡️ Why U.S. privacy law enforcement hasn’t moved quickly, and how tech innovation can help US AGs maximize limited resources. ➡️ The evolution of Washington opinions on BigTech over the last 10 years, and their authenticity (or lack thereof) in respecting consumer privacy. ➡️ Growing constituent awareness of privacy and AI issues. Senator Blumenthal's insights were nothing short of enlightening, sparking discussions that we can't wait to share with you. 📚💡Stay tuned as we break down these topics in our upcoming posts. Join the conversation and be part of shaping the future of privacy with us at Ketch. A big thank you to Senator Blumenthal for engaging with us on these crucial issues. 🙌 #privacymatters #ketch #innovationinaction Tom Chavez Maxwell Anderson Jonathan Joseph Xavier Zang Colleen Barry

With very few exceptions, I'd hope we can all agree that in 2024 it's not REALLY software if your developers have to check in code to make it work. And yet, that is the exactly the standard the privacy community has somehow come to accept. If you are a privacy pro and have a SAAS contract that feels more like services as a service, there is hope. An army of implementation service workers and one off patches to augment the solution you just dropped thousands on is the mark of mediocrity. As the co-founder and head of product at Ketch, I've been observing a frustrating trend in the privacy software market that I believe warrants a discussion. Let's dive into it. Small cookie banner providers are driving down the perceived value of privacy software. They're offering solutions for as low as $100-$200 a month. On the surface, this sounds like a steal, right? But here’s the kicker – these low-cost options just don’t cut it when it comes to true compliance and enabling permission data throughout your business. It's like comparing a tricycle to a high-performance vehicle. Sure, both have wheels, but only one is going to get you where you need to go with speed, efficiency, and safety. The hundred-dollar cookie banners? They might get you a compliance “check” on the surface, but there’s nothing under the hood. So, what gives? Why are we letting these tricycles set the pace in a race meant for high-performance vehicles? I'm curious to hear other opinions. Do you think the market is undervaluing privacy software? Let's talk about it. 🚀 #dataprivacy #privacytech

Thinking IAB frameworks = compliance? ✅ Think again! There's a common misconception: IAB frameworks are the be-all and end-all of consent orchestration. “If I just use the IAB, I covered by consent obligations, right?” Wrong! In reality? IAB frameworks are just one piece of the puzzle. Here's the truth: 🛒 As an e-commerce/retail brand, you collect data beyond cookies. 💻 This data gets passed to systems like CDPs, DMPs, and DSPs for further processing. 🚫 IAB frameworks don't at all address how consent is handled within these systems for the marketer. This means relying solely on IAB frameworks leaves a major gap in your compliance, and more importantly your CONSUMER EXPERIENCE. ❓What's the solution? You need a comprehensive approach to consent orchestration that goes beyond cookies. Look for a solution that helps you manage consent across all your data collection points and ensures it's respected by all your data partners. Don't let cookie consent be your only focus! Let’s talk - Contact us at Ketch: https://lnkd.in/g9KtmUEn

🛑 Most e-commerce/retail businesses are falling short of privacy compliance—ignoring consent enforcement. Businesses focus solely on cookie consent and miss out on consent enforcement (or consent orchestration). —-------------- Hey, ecommerce brands: if you think data privacy = cookie banners, you’re missing out on CX gains and revenue efficiency. Forget about the surface-level cookie banners. There’s a way to get real business impact from your data privacy strategy. ❓What are brands getting wrong? 🚫 Wasting ad revenue on opted-out consumers When brands fail to prioritize consent orchestration–connecting visitor consent signals to marketing techstack systems and apps–they risk wasting media spend on users that haven’t consented, and will never buy. 💡Checking the box on cookie consent…and that’s it Most ecommerce teams are slapping a cookie banner on their website and calling it a day, when instead they could be creating a consumer-centric consent journey, tying consent to first-party data collection and value customers. 🤷♂️Why should you care? Getting data privacy wrong has major negative impacts: more unsubscribes, slower websites, and wasted ad revenue. Get it right, and data privacy can be a true lever for increasing your access to permissioned data for biz growth. The good news? This isn’t as hard as it sounds. It just requires the right cross-functional team and the right techstack. Ketch is the best privacy software for retail and ecommerce brands that need an easy, modern solution to satisfying privacy requirements with a customer-centric approach to data collection and growth. I am so excited to learn the news of Fund II by super{set}! Having been one of the lucky folks that was part of Fund I, I’m thrilled to know that there will be even more companies created out of this program. I’m not normally much of a hype man, but it feels warranted on the heels of this news; super{set} gave me an incredible opportunity to stretch beyond my wildest dreams and become a founder of a company. At every moment where I have faced adversity, Tom Chavez, Vivek Vaidya, and Jeremy Klein have been there to help me through. I can’t imagine a more compelling model for aspiring (or even those on the cusp of aspiring) entrepreneurs looking to enter the fast lane of growth. I’m so grateful for my experience - to all the future super{set} founders to come, congratulations! I’m looking forward to working with you! 😊 https://lnkd.in/g75ZM_9m
