Here’s a reminder of what's in store: 🤠 Texas: Texas Data Privacy and Security Act ✔️ Who’s Affected?: Any business operating in Texas or targeting Texans. ✔️ Key Changes: Requires opt-in consent for selling sensitive data and grants consumers rights to access, correct, delete, and port their data. ✔️ Penalties: Up to $7,500 per violation. 🦫 Oregon: Oregon Consumer Privacy Act ✔️ Who’s Affected?: Businesses processing data of 100,000+ Oregonians or 25,000+ if earning 25% revenue from data sales. ✔️ Key Changes: Includes derived data as personal data and expands the definition of sensitive data. ✔️ Consumer Rights: Right to know third-party data shares. 🌴 Florida: Florida Digital Bill of Rights ✔️ Enforcement: Florida Attorney General with fines up to $50,000, tripling for certain violations. ✔️ Consumer Rights: Access, correct, delete, and opt-out of data sales. ✔️ Grace Period: 45 days to fix violations. ✏️ Compliance Tips ✔️ Audit Your Data: Understand what you collect and how it's used. ✔️ Update Policies: Ensure transparency. ✔️ Train Your Team: Make compliance everyone’s job. ✔️ Invest in Tools: Use tech to automate compliance. ✔️ Consult Experts: Seek professional advice when necessary.
