Interessant. Ford steigt aus Rivian aus, weil sie als Amerikaner keinen Mehrwert erkennen, und Volkswagen steigt ein. Wenn das mal nicht die nächste Investitionsruine wird.

I am amazed that this sort of excitement is coming from the CEO of a venture which was established to develop platforms for the VW group. Just adding more layers to the already complex system. Besides, investing in a company going through a bloodbath is a terrible idea in itself. VW needs to acquire but not products like these. Wonder what will happen with the numerous teams working at CARIAD.

Origanisational complexity is increasing: Three car makers and a software company or three internal units and one external partner. I'd guess each of these units has about 2000 software people, i.e. 8000, how much energy will you invest in coordinating these, finding the right levels of collaboration, abstraction and brand distinction?

3wLinux, ARM, Infineon, NXP – all diese erfolgreichen Technologien und Unternehmen haben europäische Wurzeln. Trotzdem hat Europa ein Problem mit der Informatik. Das liegt nicht an mangelnder Kompetenz, sondern an der verzerrten öffentlichen Wahrnehmung. Informatik wird hier oft auf "irgendwas mit IT" reduziert, ein Feld, das nur von "Nerds" betrieben wird. Diese Fehlwahrnehmung ist in der Bevölkerung und offenbar auch in vielen Vorstandsetagen verbreitet. Würden mehr Vorstände mit echter Softwareerfahrung berufen, sähe die Situation anders aus. Leider wird Informatik in Deutschland oft als ein analoges Thema angesehen, was der digitalen Realität nicht gerecht wird. Diese Einstellung behindert Innovation und Fortschritt. Es ist traurig, dass das Problem nicht in der Informatik selbst, sondern in der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung und mangelnden Wertschätzung liegt.
