Streaming is surpassing cable, and it's likely due to the control that viewers have over what they watch and when (along with other factors). I know I sure do subscribe to quite a few services which gets expensive. IAB CEO David Cohen told Axios, "I think that there's a lot to be said for the power of the bundle. Consumers are not going to subscribe to seven or eight things, they simply can't afford that." We have to start adding layers. Investing in streaming isn't enough — we also need to add bundles that make financial sense to consumers who are now faced with the task of choosing which services they can afford. #IAB #Streaming #Bundles #StreamingServices

With more businesses branching into FAST experiences, it's clear that this trend is only growing. One of the key outcomes of this is the TV-like experience being offered as part of a device service. Wow, this is great to see from the Roku team who want to bring increased transparency to programmatic CTV ad buys. 👏 With the Roku Exchange, programmatic buyers can access the same data as direct buyers, Louqman Parampath told AdExchanger, such as the length of ad breaks and when those breaks happen within a particular stream. Is it retail media or commerce media? The distinction goes beyond semantics. As my Skai colleague Nich Weinheimer explains in his article for Total Retail, the classification determines "how advertisers will manage, staff, budget and strategize their programs. Has anyone ever sized the market opportunity the measurement/verification/attribution/optimization companies are fighting for a share of? Are long-term projections tethered to assumptions using math like we expect X share of a market sized Y, yielding revenue Z, margins A = valuation B? I suspect the pie is finite and not going to grow enormously, so in the end there is only room for a handful of players. And someone is going to have to lose significant share for even that to work. Especially as long as the sell side is paying most of the freight (directly and indirectly).

"This industry is like Peter Pan, refusing to grow up. What we need is: 1) fewer players, 2) higher volumes, 3) lower take rates, and 4) better quality. Luma doesn't hold back in the latest State of Digital presentation. Most of the industry will likely agree with points 3 and 4. The first two points may favor M&A but what about diversity and innovation from new entrants? Well worth a view in your coffee break as plenty of interesting stats and commentary on what's hot including commerce media and creator economy. Linear TV is more at risk than ever. Sport is keeping it afloat, but big tech with deep pockets is poised to snap up contracts. A bright spot is the democratisation that CTV offers through attracting new advertisers, especially SMEs, due to improved measurement, targeting and formats such as commerce media. With my DAIVID 🦩 hat on, I'm excited about the section on Creative Tech, especially tech that optimises effectiveness.
