    - Present

For the past one year, my work has been focused on public policies at the city level in Brazil. Since Nov 2016, I have been working with Comunitas., a non-profit organization that lead a program called Juntos - it stands for together in Portuguese. Juntos is a program that focuses on making cities a better place to live and we do that by trying to lever the impact of social private investments in those territories, working with city admnistrations, and helping them to build capacity. Here is a short youtube video about it. At this moment, working at the knowledge management area of the organization we have been focusing on not only managing the knowledge that flows across agents in our programs, such as public leaders, servants, private leaders and specialists, but also innovate and bring Juntos’ methodology to scale using technology. Our new online platoform - REDE JUNTOS - is one example.

    A. Collective Intelligence | We brought all our knowledge online in a "wiki" model. The content architecture that is a net, with infinite nodes possible | verbs (challenges) + nouns (themes) | our aim is to leverage the intelligence of our network of specialists, public servants and leaders towards design the most effective solution for wicked problems – solutions that solve public problems not “in thesis” but in practical terms;

    2. Besides that, we are experimenting new formats of content for strategical and tactical levels of public service. Such as a podcast series with Columbia University in the end of last year. Now we are experimenting with short courses, webinars, etc. The challenge is: How to reach them more effectively?

    3. Finally, we are taking to the digital world the human interaction and governance model we run “in real life” – we have to get to a model that takes the Program Juntos to scale using technology, but still brings the organization values.

  • Beyond Us| Between Crowds and Empires

Is an artistic research on sharing economy and its ambivalences.Through this project, we will confront the contradictions of collaboration as a promising model of economic and social

go beyond borders, dispute hegemony and control of data
intervening softly or not on the public and cultural spheres.
For that, we will scale down to local and regional narratives and examples of the networked world, crowds and its hubs, identifying possible spaces for interventions into social, cultural
and economic arenas. This project aims at catalyzing the emergence of alternative social contracts, which are based on the horizontality of human relationships, and on the decentralization
of production and exchange means, while opening paths for the
    direct cooperation between people.
Our process will be made visible on-line and flow into an ePublication,
to be launched in late summer 2016.

  • Open Government Toolkit for Urban Policies – "Sharing Gov 2.0 Innovation in NYC, Rio de Janeiro, and Mumbai"

Open government data and big data analysis are two of the most relevant trends regarding
the use of technology within public administration. The first consists of online publishing of
structured databases owned or produced by the government, as a way to promote transparency,
accountability, and to provide the public with relevant information. The latter encompasses the
consistent use of data analysis tools and procedures to tackle urban problems in innovative ways.

The work done by Mayor Bloomberg’s Office of Policy and Strategic Planning is seen as
setting a global standard for implementing open data and analytics tools to make government more
efficient and responsive to citizen needs. It has spurred an international movement to publish
government data and apply it in innovative policies across the world.

This projectl aims to create a “tool kit” of best practices based on the experiences of New
York City and two of the most dynamic centers for “Big Data” innovation in the developing world
    – Rio de Janeiro and Mumbai. The “tool kit” would be a platform for the exchange of ideas, code,
and tutorials for the development of collaborative, data-driven solutions for urban policies to be
used by urban policymakers throughout the world. It would be open to the general public, thus
allowing and incentivizing civic hacking and data journalism initiatives as well.
