Strategies for Health Governance, Leadership, Protocols, Policies and Partnership to Mitigate Climate Change Impact on Health - Bright Chimezie Irem At the 2024 Healthcare Leadership and Management Conference - during the Africa Health Executives Conference in Cairo, Egypt 🇪🇬, on the side, I discussed practical strategies that can enhance #healthcare #governance, #leadership, and #partnerships. These strategies are designed to inspire the formation of national & regional (professional) bodies, and the development of comprehensive protocols and policy guidelines to coordinate proactive response/s that will mitigate the impacts of climate change on health. Such strategies and protocols as I presented and discussed centered on: 1. Multi-Sector Collaboration 2. Responsive Policy design and integration 3. Multi levels of professional training 4. Social and Mass education to constitute public awareness and campaign 5. Technology Utilization 6. Sustainable Healthcare practices - a model reviewed is the AfriPharm Medicals Group Green Clinic Design (a self-sustaining Modular Operations Theaters and ICU that runs off-grid and generates its own power supply and medical oxygen for round-the-clock needs/use in Operations theater and ICUs. 7. Research & Development (R&D) in the area of health impacts of climate change to guide policy design/formulation (as in 2 above). Implementation of Health Technology Assessment in the Middle East We are excited to announce that Syreon Middle East has recently received positive feedback from prestigious journals for the acceptance of two significant health policy papers focused on developing Health Technology Assessment (HTA) systems in the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting our ongoing commitment in shaping health policy strategies in the Middle East. As an initial step, our team successfully coordinated a regional HTA roadmap across the Middle East, a foundational step towards standardized HTA practices. Shifting away from such disposable practices involves integrating Circular Economy (CE) strategies to preserve and extend the economic and environmental value of products and materials. Considering the urgency, more research can be done on the implementation of CE strategies within the healthcare sector. The fourth industrial revolution (4IR) will allow South Africa to leapfrog to a better future, but there is a need to recognise the true value of this suite of technologies and deploy them correctly.
