Today is #Juneteenth, a celebration and reminder of the official end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth was declared a federal holiday in 2021 to reflect on the history of slavery in the U.S., rejoice in the progress our country has made and to advocate for continued meaningful change. Thanks to The Hendersonville Standard for sharing our good news with a recent article about our May 31 Birth Center NICU Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting. The newly expanded NICU has 11 private neonatal care suites (an increase from the original six), a five-bed obstetrics assessment center and dedicated areas for members of HCA’s Care Transformation and Innovation (CT&I) team. There are also new training and meeting rooms, along with space reserved for two additional NICU suites. We appreciate the large turn out to the event, and we are proud to provide new healthcare options for moms, babies, and families in Sumner County. The first quarter DAISY Award Recipient at TriStar Hendersonville is Lindy Parker, RN, Medical/Surgical. The DAISY award honors the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. Lindy was selected based on two nominations she received by patients: "This nurse went above and beyond each day I was under her care. She was super-caring and the very best!" "This nurse gave me a listening ear the entire time I was under her care. Best nurse I have ever had. Demonstrated care when I shared concerns about my meds and stayed by my bed as I ranted about my pain. Kept me laughing when I felt like bawling my eyes out. The care and compassion shown through her eyes and smile. I could not ask for better. She deserves more than this award in my eyes... a raise, a medal, a new car! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"
