  • What an exciting day yesterday as we hosted WWII veterans and served as a staging station for WWII jeeps and trucks gathered before the start of the annual Wyomissing Parade! Residents had the wonderful opportunity to greet the veterans and thank them for their service. Among the 50+ veterans participating, four of our own veterans rode in the parade: Betty O’Connell, Milton (Rip) Ripple, Norman Wilikovsky, and Paul Lilienthal, who proudly served as the Grand Marshal. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and to all the brave men and women who have served, allowing us to celebrate Independence Day!

  • Today, we honor the brave souls who stormed the beaches, the pilots who soared through enemy skies, and the paratroopers who leaped into the unknown. On this 80th anniversary, we remember the incredible courage and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom during the pivotal moments of World War II. Their legacy lives on in the peace and freedoms we enjoy today. Let us never forget their bravery and the immense cost of our liberty. #DDay #Normandy #80thAnniversary #HonorTheBrave #WWIIHeroes

  • We had a truly unforgettable Memorial Day Program today at The Highlands at Wyomissing®! Held in our Cultural Center, the event highlighted four of our own World War II veterans along with many others from surrounding areas, and commemorated the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. A huge thank you to Mrs. Barbara Whitman and the dedicated team of Highlands residents for organizing such a meaningful program. We were honored to have Tyler Boland as our special guest speaker. Tyler, a passionate 20-year-old student from Albright College, shared his incredible journey of interviewing and videotaping nearly 200 WWII veterans. His restored WWII jeep was a fascinating highlight for all attendees. The recognition of all our veterans, accompanied by the stirring songs of all branches of the service, made for a touching tribute. In observance of National Poppy Day, each attendee received a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living who have served our nation. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this day so special. Let's continue to honor and remember the heroes who sacrificed for our freedom. #MemorialDay #HonorOurVeterans
