Today, we honor the brave souls who stormed the beaches, the pilots who soared through enemy skies, and the paratroopers who leaped into the unknown. On this 80th anniversary, we remember the incredible courage and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom during the pivotal moments of World War II. Their legacy lives on in the peace and freedoms we enjoy today. Let us never forget their bravery and the immense cost of our liberty. #DDay #Normandy #80thAnniversary #HonorTheBrave #WWIIHeroes

🇺🇸 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼! 🙏 Recently, I had the privilege of sitting down with a USAF war veteran who served during WWII. We engaged in a heartwarming conversation that was teary upon listening to his reflections and stories down memory lane. One that inspired was the Stigler-Brown incident, a remarkable historical event that he explained still resonates today. The Stigler-Brown incident stands as a testament to humanity's capacity for compassion even amidst the horrors of conflict. As the veteran recounted the story of how German pilot Franz Stigler risked his life to save an injured B-17 crew, including the American pilot Charlie Brown, it reminded the power of empathy and the potential for understanding between adversaries. In today's world, where divisions and conflicts persist, the story of Stigler-Brown serves as a profound reminder of the importance of empathy and kindness where one's conscience sees beyond differences to take precedence over enmity and rivalry. It highlights that even when evil persists in darkest times today, we can find opportunities to connect, to value human life above all else and to extend a helping hand to those in need. History teaches many things that we need to learn and the veteran's message reminded to carry forward the legacy of compassion and understanding to foster a more harmonious and united world. 🌍 A cherished encounter that left me inspired and motivated to do my part in spreading the veteran's message of peace and humanity. 🕊🌈 #history #humanity #compassion #ww2 #inspiration #betterworld 👇 An inspirational watch - humanity matters.

Hannibal Barca is remembered as one of history's greatest military strategists, and his unconventional tactics were the hallmark of the Second Punic War. Hannibal's emphasis on mobility was a hallmark of his strategy. He led a diverse army, comprised of soldiers from various ethnic backgrounds and combat styles, which made his forces highly adaptable to different situations. He often employed rapid marches and encirclement tactics, consistently keeping Roman forces on edge and preventing them from anticipating his movements. Rather than engaging in straightforward pitched battles, Hannibal's forces favored hit-and-run tactics, a persistent approach that gradually wore down the Romans. One of the most iconic elements of Hannibal's army was his utilization of war elephants. These colossal creatures, often stationed on the flanks, instilled fear and confusion on the battlefield. However, controlling these massive beasts proved to be a significant challenge, and their unpredictability added an element of chaos to his strategy. Hannibal also recognized the critical role of cavalry in his tactics. His Numidian and Iberian cavalry units were exceptional, displaying superior maneuverability and skill in outflanking and harassing Roman legions. These tactics disrupted the Roman formations and hindered their ability to establish cohesive lines. The Roman response to Hannibal's tactics involved a series of commanders, but one notable figure was Scipio Africanus. Scipio understood the dangers of directly confronting Hannibal and instead employed a more flexible approach. He leveraged the terrain to his advantage and gradually weakened the Carthaginian forces over time. Hannibal's legacy endures as a symbol of audacious military brilliance, and this conflict remains a significant chapter in the evolution of strategic warfare. #mylineage #ancient #armor #battle #brasidas #europeanhistory #greece #greek #greekwarfare #helmet #historia #historical #history #hoplite #platea #leonidas #lysander #mediterranean #hannibal #military #militaryhistory #shield #sparta #spartan #hannibalbarca #alexander #warhistorical #warhistory #warrior #warriorhistory https://lnkd.in/gi2CDzvg

Today, on Flag Day, also the Birth of our great nations Army, 249 years old-let us take a moment to reflect on the significance and the sacrifices represented by the American flag. For those who may have forgotten or never known, here are some key points about what our beautiful flag symbolizes: - The flag of the United States is a powerful symbol of freedom, under which Americans recite the pledge of allegiance. - The 13 red and white stripes on the flag represent the original 13 colonies, while the 50 white stars on a blue background symbolize the 50 states. - Each color on the flag holds a specific meaning: - Red symbolizes valor and bravery. - White represents purity and innocence. - Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice. It's fascinating to note that a star is added to the flag each time a new state joins the United States. The last modification to the flag occurred on July 4, 1960, when Hawaii became a state. Let's take this day to honor our flag and what it stands for. #FlagDay #AmericanFlag #SymbolOfFreedom 🇺🇸

“Go For Broke” was the motto of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, an Army unit composed of Japanese Americans from Hawai’i and the mainland United States. For high-rolling gamblers in Hawai’i in the 1940s, it was slang for “shooting the works,” or risking everything for the big win. For the Nisei soldiers, “go for broke” meant that they would put everything on the line to win the war against the Germans in Europe and the war against racial prejudice at home. OUR MISSION To educate and inspire character and equality through the virtue and valor of our World War II American veterans of Japanese ancestry. We were founded in 1989. We built a Monument in 1999. We’ve trained over 3,000 teachers, collected more than 1,180 oral history interviews, and opened a one-of-a-kind history exhibition. And much more. Explore more about our history, our mission, and our people below. Want to create live streams like this? Check out StreamYard: https://lnkd.in/ghn4ByqF
