Congratulations and a HUGE thank you to David Swissman, who recently raised over $20,000 for #StandUpToCancer in honor of his late mother, Brenda, as he ran in the New York half marathon! 🧡 Despite being given a year or less to live at the time of her diagnosis, Brenda lived over two years and was able to attend her daughter’s wedding, while participating in clinical trials their doctor found through SU2C. Thank you, also, to David’s father, Steve, and his family and friends for their support. You can start your own fundraiser for SU2C this summer. Find out how at https://lnkd.in/gCFh72CA.

“Being able to use my small platform to educate and inform the LGBTQ+ community has been a way for me to make peace with my own bilateral breast cancer diagnosis. Screenings and routine exams save lives, and I am an advocate for early detection. Cancer is not a club that any one of us wants to belong in, but if I have helped save lives through sharing my own journey, I am very grateful.” - Nikki Weiss-Goldstein This #PrideMonth, join #StandUpToCancer, Nikki, and her family as we stand up for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community who has been affected by cancer. Let us know who you stand up for in the comments! ❤️🧡💛 Photo Credit: Marissa Roseillier

United in the fight against cancer. Thank you to everyone who stood up in honor of their loved ones and for SU2C Ambassador Andra Day’s beautiful performance of “Rise Up” during the #StandUpToCancer placard moment at the San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals game in Birmingham, Alabama. In tribute to the Negro Leagues, Major League Baseball (MLB) hosted this game at the historic Rickwood Field, the oldest professional ballpark in the U.S. As always, we thank MLB for their continuous support of SU2C and our mission to fund groundbreaking cancer research! ❤️

It’s #ImmunotherapyAwarenessMonth and #StandUpToCancer is celebrating the incredible advances made in #immunotherapy, a treatment that uses a person's own immune system to fight cancer. Here are some of the SU2C-funded breakthroughs: ▶️ Clinical trials for children and young adults with blood cancer led to the first CAR T-cell therapy, which is a type of immunotherapy, approved by the U.S. FDA. ▶️ Immunotherapy combinations utilized in clinical trials for melanoma and prostate cancers led to the first-ever use of a specific immunotherapy drug in a type of advanced lung cancer. ▶️ A clinical trial for difficult-to-treat rectal cancer utilized an immunotherapy drug, resulting in cancer disappearing for every trial participant without the need for surgery. ▶️ A clinical trial showed the combination of two immunotherapies could become a new treatment for late-stage lung cancer.

“I have watched my father support my mother through her cancer journey ever since she was first diagnosed 16 years ago. His unwavering support of my mother and our family all these years not only shows what an incredible and loving father he is, but also shows his amazing strength and resilience while being the best caregiver.” -Christine, #StandUpToCancer employee This #FathersDay, we stand up for those fathers who are patients and survivors, those who are tireless caregivers to their loved ones, and those we’ve lost too soon. ❤️
