The St. Louis Cardinals offer our condolences to the family and friends of Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda who sadly passed away earlier this evening at the age 86. Orlando brought his love for life and the game of baseball to St. Louis in 1966, and enjoyed an MVP season the following year while helping the "El Birdos" Cardinals to a World Series title in 1967. “Cha-Cha”, who remained a fan-favorite among Cardinals fans well beyond his three seasons playing for St. Louis, will long be remembered for his distinguished playing career, but more importantly for the cheerful joy he shared with others.

The St. Louis Cardinals are proud to recognize that July is Disability Pride Month. During this month, we honor the history, struggles, and achievements of people with disabilities. Last night, as part of our first Celebrate Disability Night at the ballpark, we welcomed representatives from two local organizations who are leaders in the disability community. Starkloff Disability Institute builds inclusion where we live, learn, work, and play so disabled people can thrive. To end exclusion and poverty, Starkloff works on both sides of the problem by preparing disabled youth and adults to be competitive in the workforce and educating companies and communities to be disability welcoming. MindsEye builds a more inclusive community by translating vision into audio for individuals who are blind or partially sighted through adaptive athletics, a radio information service, and audio described events, including St. Louis Cardinals games. MindsEye and Lighthouse for the Blind St. Louis are proud to host the 2024 National Beep Baseball Association World Series this July. The St. Louis Cardinals are dedicated to providing a welcoming environment for every fan. We are proud to offer multiple accommodations for people with disabilities throughout our stadium every game. Please visit cardinals.com/ada for more information.

Today, Cardinals Care officially opened Paul Goldschmidt Field at the South County YMCA Adaptive Sports Complex! The complex features a Miracle League Baseball Field, which has a cushioned, barrier-free surface and barrier-free dugout to provide accessibility for players with disabilities. Big thanks to the Gateway Region YMCA, Boniface Foundation, and the Miracle League for making this dream field a reality for area youth!

We've had a great week leading up to tonight's game at the historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham! On Tuesday, Fredbird got to PLAY BALL with his buddy Lou Seal and 100 area kids at Regions Field, home of the MiLB Birmingham Barons. On Wednesday, Fred and Lou delivered goodies and visited with kids at Children's Hospital of Birmingham. This morning, they joined MLB, the Giants Community Foundation and Cardinals Care at the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club to announce the installation of the MLB Together Legacy Freight Farms hydroponic farm for the kids to grow vegetables that will be used at the Club as well as donated to the local community.
