Building better.

About us

Rugged Robotics is a modern, solution-oriented company based in Houston Texas. We combine experience and expertise from the construction and robotics industries to build practical solutions to real-world problems faced by construction crews every day. We have designed and built the world’s first fully self-contained robotic system that prints detailed, life-size layouts directly onto concrete floors. We provide a complete layout service, parsing digital design data from the CAD models and deploying with our robotic platform to print detailed interior layouts, ultimately enabling faster, more accurate installation across construction.

Feldman Geospatial is once again showcasing its cutting-edge field printing technology this week, collaborating with Commodore Builders to precisely lay out architecturally exposed steel on a renowned Boston high-rise. The Rugged Robotics #Mark 1 is particularly suited for this intricate, sweeping, curved design. #Fieldprinting for layout is becoming increasingly popular due to several significant advantages: 1️⃣ Time Savings: This method greatly reduces the time required for complex layouts, including curves, point arrays, and detailed labeling. 2️⃣ Multi-trade Coordination: Field printing allows for simultaneous multi-trade layout, enhancing productivity and cost efficiency. 3️⃣ Worker Health: Perhaps the most underrated benefit is the positive impact on worker health. By enabling trade professionals to focus on installation rather than labor-intensive tasks like snapping chalk lines on their knees, field printing helps improve worker comfort and longevity on the job site. All field printers require accurate survey control, and this is where Feldman Geospatial excels -- by providing end-to-end layout and control. By leveraging our construction engineering expertise and integrating innovative technology like Rugged Robotics, we are transforming the layout process. Our precise survey control ensures that every aspect of the field printing is accurate and reliable, setting a new standard in the industry. Niall Curry Michael Mann

Excited to see Feldman Geospatial using one of our Mark1 robots to knock it out of the park on a recent project with Shawmut. While it's always a bit stressful turning over the keys to someone else, it's a lot easier when it's to the team at Feldman.

As we continue to grow our partnership with the fantastic team at Rugged Robotics, we're on to our next robotic layout project—this time with Shawmut Design and Construction on the Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School site in Pawtucket, RI. The Shawmut team needed layout for some complex, jogged, and curved corridors, and we knew it was a job for the Rugged #Mark1. With robotic printing revolutionizing the construction industry, we're thrilled to be at the forefront of this game-changing technology. Stay tuned for updates on our progress! Join the ranks of powerful BOOST alumni transforming the built environment. Derrick Morse, P.E., CEO and Co-founder of Rugged Robotics, participated in BOOST's second cohort in 2021. Their technology tackles the challenge of field layout, replacing slow and error-prone manual layout methods with an autonomous robot that marks fully-coordinated A/E designs onto unfinished floors. Today, Rugged Robotics is providing specialty and multi-trade layout services for several major general contractors, including prominent projects with Suffolk Construction, and some of the most influential owner-operators globally. Explore Rugged's journey with BOOST and the remarkable strides they've made since the program ended in the case study below. It's been a minute since our last project in Maine. Always rewarding to return to geographies and project teams that haven't seen us since our Beta 3 or Beta 4 robot days. Excited to be working with Consigli Construction Co., Inc. on this one!

Last week, over 18,000 students converged in Houston for the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship. Amidst the excitement, Rugged Robotics hosted our annual Mentor Meetup at True Anomaly Brewing Company, providing mentors with a platform to connect, network, and exchange experiences from the build season. At Rugged, many of us have been both students and mentors in the FIRST robotics community, which is why supporting events like this is close to our hearts. It's our way of giving back to a community that has played a significant role in shaping our team members' lives. The event was a great success, fostering a sense of camaraderie and celebration of robotics education. Cheers to all those who dedicate their time and effort to make robotics education a reality for students around the world. Your contributions are truly appreciated!
