As part of our commitment to uplifting female leaders within our organization, Suffolk hosted a series of Women in Operations Summits across each of our regions this spring. Through this program, we held seven summits attended by a total of nearly 200 Suffolk women in key operations roles. Each summit included a panel discussion with female executive leadership, a keynote speech from the regional leader, and small group discussions to allow women the opportunity to share their experiences, identify challenges, garner feedback and identify actionable goals. These facilitated discussions covered the topics of Building Presence, Career Development, Conflict Negotiation, Effective Communication, Managing Difficult Discussions and Balancing Work and Life. These summits presented a meaningful opportunity to connect and address solutions for the gender disparity that exists in the construction industry; thank you to all those who attended and participated! #womenwhobuild #rebuildtheratio

Did you know that women make up only 24% of the STEM workforce in the U.S.? At Suffolk, we're partnering with organizations like DIY Girls to address this underrepresentation and inspire the next generation of female STEM professionals. DIY Girls' mission is to increase girls' interest and long-term success in STEM fields through engaging educational experiences and mentor relationships. Our Suffolk West team recently volunteered alongside this impactful organization to assemble STEM kits, which featured engaging, hands-on activities for young women to exercise their problem-solving skills and learn more about building. Suffolk Southeast Project Executive Elizabeth Lamborghini was recently named a finalist for the South Florida Business & Wealth Prestigious Women Awards! This annual award recognizes women in South Florida who "lead and inspire the regional business and philanthropy communities through their careers, mentorship and generosity.” Lizz was recognized for her dedicated leadership on complex regional projects including MiamiCentral and the citizenM hotels Miami, her membership on our Giving Circle regional board, and her volunteering efforts with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together. Suffolk New York recently hosted students from the ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY at our Manhattan office for a fun-filled day of learning about the construction industry. ACE Mentor is a free after-school program serving over 10,000 students per year, providing learning opportunities and mentorship for high schoolers interested in architecture, engineering and construction. Our Suffolk leaders answered students' questions and gave an insightful presentation about the multiple construction technology solutions we are using on our jobsites, including Spot the robot dog. Spot, designed by Boston Dynamics, walks our jobsites to streamline surveying and data collection, increasing efficiency and worker safety on the job. Suffolk West's San Francisco team partnered with Tabernacle Community Development Corporation (TCDC) and Aboriginal Blackman United (ABU) to host the inaugural Bayview Community Day, which honored Rev. Dr. Arelious Walker’s impact and activism efforts to address issues such as substance abuse, homelessness and employment training in Bayview-Hunter’s Point. With the support of our generous trade partners, Suffolk was able to help organize a fun-filled day for the Bayview community to come together and enjoy food, games and family-friendly activities. The event also included a toy drive to ensure that every child who attended the event received a brand-new toy. Thank you to our volunteers and partners! #suffolkcares

Our Suffolk Southeast and National Gaming and Hospitality Center of Excellence teams recently gathered with WilMen Construction and our partners to celebrate the topping out of our Seminole Casino Brighton project! This exciting milestone celebrates the team's impressive progress on this project, which will replace the existing Seminole Casino Brighton, first opened in 1980. The new build will include a total of over 188,130 square feet, including space for 640 slot machines and 18 tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, and other house-banked card games. The complex will also include a variety of dining options, an indoor event space, a ten-lane bowling alley, and the first hotel to be built on the Brighton Seminole Reservation. Congratulations to the entire project team on this milestone!

Suffolk West Director of People & Culture Brandy N. Jenkins, SHRM-CP was invited to be a keynote speaker at the recent CityBuild commencement ceremony through the San Francisco Office of Economic & Workforce Development. In her speech, Brandy discussed how graduates can apply Suffolk's core values to help bring them success as they enter the construction industry. CityBuild provides comprehensive pre-apprenticeship and construction administration training to San Francisco residents. It is an internationally recognized model that creates opportunities and careers for residents through local projects. Thank you to Brandy for representing Suffolk at this impactful event!
