Celebrating Independence Day with Reflections from our President, Paul Foley ✨ This Independence Day, we asked our company president, Paul Foley, to share his thoughts on the holiday and his journey over the past 25 years in the United States. "I arrived in San Francisco in 1999 on a J-1 visa and immediately felt a strong and special bond with the U.S., so much so that I emigrated from Ireland to Boston in 2000 and have called it home ever since. On July 4th, I think about the America I've come to know and love over the last 25 years. Just like in Ireland, I see a place of proud, hardworking people who value family, integrity, and community. Like anywhere, we are a work in progress. These days, it's disheartening to see how quickly negativity spreads, but that is what the algorithms seem to say to keep us hooked on our smartphones. However, with just a little effort, we can see that we have more in common than not. It’s not hard to find countless acts of kindness and those who sacrifice for the benefit and service of others. Ireland instilled in me a strong foundation of family, education, and work ethic. America provided me with opportunities, strong values, and a family of my own. I consider myself blessed to be a U.S. citizen and incredibly fortunate for all that America has offered me. My journey has been shaped by many people who showed me kindness, held me accountable, and never gave up on me. Irish by birth, American by choice. I've truly enjoyed the best of both worlds, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope you enjoy the holiday with those who mean the most to you. Summer heat is no joke! Here are our top safety tips to keep our construction teams safe and cool during these hot months: -Drink a large water (ideally with electrolytes) before your coffee every morning -Make the switch to breathable clothing such as mesh vests for better airflow -Vented hard hats and safety glasses with UV protection -Increase water and electrolyte intake throughout the day -Keep an eye on your co-workers and be alert for signs of heat exhaustion- take breaks in the shade when needed. Early symptoms include lethargy, disorientation, stumbling, dropping tools, slurred speech or unresponsiveness. What other tips have helped you out on the field during the summer?
