About us
Nonprofits are a force for good. We're here to help. Our mission is to inform, promote, connect and strengthen individual nonprofits and Minnesota's nonprofit sector. We accomplish our mission through: + Education and professional development for nonprofit staff; + Research on nonprofit sector trends, tax, and budget issues; + Advocacy at local, state, and federal levels; + Public policy and civic engagement education; and + Cost saving partnership offerings for nonprofit members. MCN was founded in 1987 to meet the increasing information needs of nonprofits and to convene nonprofits to address issues facing the sector. We are the largest state association of nonprofits in the U.S. Through MCN, nonprofits join together across interest areas to work on issues of common concern to all.

Social systems of sizeism and ableism deny fat bodies equal worth, access, and value. Outdated practices in healthcare invalidate personal autonomy, pathologize, and endanger big bodies. Anti-fat bias in hiring and recruiting means missing out on talented candidates we assume to lack individual willpower or discipline simply because of their size. Join MCN and Kaitlin Desselle July 10 to explore sizeism and ableism through the intersectional lens of sexism, racism, and classism. In this 2-hour virtual training, you'll discuss the implications of anti-fat bias in the workplace and learn how to create inclusive spaces for bodies of all sizes. I'm so excited to have been one of the few chosen to present at Minnesota Council of Nonprofits's Fundraising conference this year! At every single non-profit - especially here in the Twin Cities - development is focused on the 1%. Elite, rich individuals who then have way too much of a say in how your organization operates. Why? Capitalism! I'll show you how to invest in Community Centric models of fundraising with all of the knowledge I've gleamed in my 10+ years of experience in development and marketing. Thrilled! See you in July :)
