Transforming Communities Through Integrated Design & Construction Excellence
About us
Established in St. Louis in 1980, KAI Enterprises has grown into one of the leading and most respected design and build firms. We provide delivery-oriented building solutions nationwide with a diverse portfolio of experience, 150+ in-house multi-discipline professionals, and expertise in both design and construction delivery. More importantly, we are designers and builders out to make a difference in our communities. Through our integrated design and build strategy, we offer both award-winning design services (architecture, interior design and engineering) and build services (general contracting and program, project and construction management) all under one roof. Our goal is to incorporate these two strengths to deliver the best value, solution and people to achieve your vision, budget and schedule. Currently serving as the Executive Architect for the National Juneteenth Museum, KAI seeks out culturally conscious, and politically sensitive projects that will make lasting differences in the lives they touch. KAI was built upon a foundation of teamwork and collaboration and has since grown into one of the largest minority-owned firms in the AEC industry. For more than 40 years, we have been instrumental in transforming communities through its expertise in residential, commercial, K-12, higher education, healthcare, science and technology, aviation, mobility, sports and entertainment, government, water and community-focused projects. https://linktr.ee/kaienterprises

Taking the time to reflect on a project and understand its long-term impact is crucial to us. We're grateful to our friends at A4LE North Texas Chapter and Dallas Independent School District for inviting us to share our philosophy of transforming communities through meaningful projects. Recently, KAI President Darren L. James, FAIA, NOMA, NCARB, and KAI Vice President Derwin Broughton, AIA, NOMA, NCARB, WELL AP, participated in a panel discussion titled “South Oak Cliff: A Catalyst for Community Change.” We had the privilege of providing a tour of South Oak Cliff High School, highlighting the transformative impact the project has had on the community. From improved student performance to unparalleled athletic success, this award-winning project holds a special place in our hearts and continues to inspire. #TransformingCommunities #SouthOakCliff #K12Design #Architecture #Engineering #AEC

Grab your shovels! 🏗️ It was an electrifying morning for our team as we celebrated the groundbreaking of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Master Plan, one of the most significant programs of the decade for DFW. This catalytic project is set to expand and elevate the already fantastic convention center with seven major components. We also had a wonderful time connecting with our friends with the City of Dallas. We're thrilled that our 360 CS team will serve as project managers for such a transformative endeavor, bringing significant benefits to the community through increased tourism and job creation. 🖊 Reconnecting with Nature 🖊 Imagine a learning environment where nature takes center stage, nurturing students' mental and emotional well-being. Schools can become sanctuaries for growth and development when they integrate the beauty and tranquility of the natural world. 🌳📚 KAI’s K-12 Market Leader Catherine Dalton, AIA, RID, LEED BDC, partnered with Hank Thomas, PLA, ASLA of Garrison/Jones Landscape Architects to pen their insights in a compelling piece for Spaces4Learning: "Reconnecting with Nature: Exploring the Benefits of Outdoor Learning Environments." Their article dives into the powerful, positive impacts of nature-oriented design in education. We hope you find it as inspiring as we do! It was an exciting day for the City of DeSoto, TX community! Our team was on hand for the groundbreaking of the Aquatics and Recreation Center at McCowan Park—a project full of benefits for Desoto’s residents of all backgrounds and generations. The event was hosted by Mayor Rachel L. Proctor, the city council and Parks Managing Director Chris Glover. Also in attendance were the husband of the late Mayor Curtistene S. We recently had the pleasure of volunteering at the renowned Saint Louis Zoo for their annual Zoofari Fundraising event, a highlight of the year that draws in some pretty big crowds! Teaming up with our partners from The UP Companies, our amazing group rolled up their sleeves to help set up event spaces and ensure everything was ready for the big day. 🐘🐅🦓 Giving back to one of St. Louis's most beloved attractions was a rewarding experience. We’re proud to support the Saint Louis Zoo and its mission of wildlife conservation and education. Can't wait to do it again next year! #TransformingCommunities #GiveBack #STL #STLZoo
