Fair Park is a registered National Historic Landmark and is the jewel of the Dallas Parks Systems. I am excited to lead the efforts to create a destination park for a myriad of activities; such as the exploration of the Texas Discovery Gardens, retracing the cultural treasures and influence on American society at the African American Museum, seeing Broadway musicals at The Music Hall, retracing the history of Texas at the Hall of State describing the history of the six flags that flew over Texas. As well as the spectacle of the Red River Classic between University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma or the State Fair Classic between Prairie View A & M University vs. Grambling State during the State Fair.
Fair Park has the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the United States and a significant repository of period art. Fair Park is the park for everyone and over the next few years there will be many exiting additions, new tenants, new events, a neighborhood park, and career opportunities for the surrounding neighbors, internships for our local schools. The board members represent a cross-section of Dallas with neighborhood residents, civic, business and community leaders. -
