We recently had the pleasure of volunteering at the renowned Saint Louis Zoo for their annual Zoofari Fundraising event, a highlight of the year that draws in some pretty big crowds! Teaming up with our partners from The UP Companies, our amazing group rolled up their sleeves to help set up event spaces and ensure everything was ready for the big day. 🐘🐅🦓 Giving back to one of St. Louis's most beloved attractions was a rewarding experience. We’re proud to support the Saint Louis Zoo and its mission of wildlife conservation and education. Can't wait to do it again next year! #TransformingCommunities #GiveBack #STL #STLZoo

#latestactivities Project Coyote: Fostering coexistence between humans and wildlife Have you experienced a coyote following you as you walk? Why is the coyote doing that? At this time of year, a coyote following you is simply being a good parent! It’s baby season, and parent coyotes will “escort” humans away from their families by following them until they feel secure - especially if you have a dog; coyotes may see dogs as threats to their young. If a coyote follows you, be sure your dogs are leashed and calmly continue walking away. Project Coyote, a non-profit organization, is at the forefront of this mission, working to promote compassionate conservation and coexistence between people and wildlife through education, science, and advocacy. You can read the full article by visiting the global society platform. Link in bio ☝🏼 Project Coyote #globalsociety #globalgoals #civilcociety #SDG #sustainabledevelopmentgoals

As I'm sure the MANY emails in your inbox, texts, and social posts have shown you, it's #GivingTuesday....the kickoff of end of year giving for the non-profit world. While you might feel inundated with requests, want to take a moment to share why The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation should make the cut for a charitable contribution this year. https://lnkd.in/d6Ecf-Wp Your dollars directly support the following critical initiatives and our work is simply not possible without individual and corporate support to supplement the 26 years of financial contribution and dedication of time from our founder Ward Burton. *Conservation Initiatives - Conserving our natural resources – implementing proper land management practices on our properties and supporting landowners to do the same, all while protecting the buffer zones of two Army National Guard training bases. This latter allows our military to train safely, while giving the land a voice. To date, over 45K+ acres have been protected in perpetuity and 10K+ additional acres are managed as conservation models. *Education – We’ll continue to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards by partnering with key organizations to share our hands-on and interactive wildlife and conservation educational programming. This year we’ve reached over 1K youth with our programming. *Veteran Outreach – We owe so much to those who have served and currently serve to protect our freedoms. WBWF will continue to host Veteran groups at our properties for outdoor activities promoting community and fellowship. Last year, we were able to invest over $225K to build out our Outreach Facility to serve as a venue for these purpose driven events. Additionally, each year we’ll provide a Veteran with a trained emotional support dog to overcome the everyday challenges sometimes faced post-deployment. Over 250 Veterans have participated in our outreach programming this year. #conservation #youtheducation #veteransupport

📸 Look at this post on Facebook Did you know that environmental based non profits receive just 2% of charitable donations, with most of this going to large, multi-national organizations? Small conservation groups are very good at efficiently converting even small donations into effective, immediate outcomes. There is less money going to administration and staffing costs, which means a higher percentage of each dollar donated goes right to work! For Elephants is a small, grassroots nonprofit making major impacts. We are clearly For Elephants, but we are For so much more. We are For conservation, For positive human-animal interactions, For animal welfare in captivity and in the wild, For the education of trained conservation scientists, and For making positive, sustainable changes. Consider giving either with donations and/or by sharing our message so that we can reach those who share our mission. Happy Giving Tuesday!!!

Great way to minimize all kinds of impacts.
Vehicle collisions with deer and elk tend to peak in October and November, when migration and breeding puts them on the move. But, there are a few areas in Oregon where you may see less animals crossing the highway, thanks to wildlife undercrossings. Our newest undercrossing was recently completed on U.S. 97 near Gilchrist. While this is not our first undercrossing project, it was the first crossing paid for and built with help from many agencies, nonprofits and volunteers. In recent years, the Oregon legislature has dedicated funds that support wildlife passage. Oregon Hunters Association, Oregon Wildlife Foundation, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and many others have also been key partners in directly supporting wildlife passage projects. Projects like this wouldn't be possible without support from our partners across the state - so a big thank you to everyone who has helped make this work possible!

Saguaro 🌵 climate adaptation research moves forward - including functional restoration covering ecological niches that are lost for 150 years or so when saguaros are lost in wildfires. In this case, saguaro cavity-replicating nestbox tests! #climateadaptation #climateresilience #saguaro #ecologicalrestoration
Today we installed the first saguaro cavity-replicating nestbox test array. The three boxes were the best insulating (against daytime highs) of the submissions to our nestbox design competition. Thanks to Wildlife Conservation Society’s Climate Adaptation Fund, Disney Conservation Fund, and private donations for making this conservation research possible! #saguaro #climateadaptation #nestbox #wildfirerestoration

Support state policies that protect safe passage for wildlife this Giving Tuesday! Tomorrow is one of the biggest giving days of the entire year. We have been challenged to raise $10,000 to secure state policies, ensuring safe wildlife passage in future transportation developments. In Oregon, your investment provided funding for the state to provide grants that will support projects that conserve and improve habitat connectivity in Oregon. The $5 million appropriation to the Oregon Conservation and Recreation Fund, made possible by House Bill 5030, will help advance habitat connectivity-focused projects within the state’s recently identified Priority Wildlife Connectivity Areas, making Oregon one of the first states to provide funding for wildlife crossings and corridor projects without a direct correlation to roads. In total, your investment helped secure $37 million in state legislative funding for wildlife crossing infrastructure across the United States in 2023. Donate today to sustain this momentum into 2024! https://lnkd.in/dwDvTW6u

📢 Calling all wildlife lovers and conservation enthusiasts! 🦏💚 Contact us - https://lnkd.in/diX8BcqA We want to take a moment to recognize our incredible anti-poaching team and the vital work they do every day to protect our endangered rhinos. 🙌 Despite facing immense challenges, this dedicated team at ARU Game Lodges and our Namibia Wildlife Protection APU never gives up on their mission. Our anti-poaching team tirelessly puts their lives on the line to ensure the survival of these magnificent creatures. Sadly, hosting rhinos doesn't generate funds, and that's why we need your help. Donations are crucial in supporting our efforts to combat poaching and safeguard the future of black rhinos. Thanks to the unwavering commitment of our team and the collaboration with ARU, we were able to apprehend three poachers this year. However, we also mourn the loss of one of our precious rhinos. This highlights the urgency of our cause and the need for increased support. Namibia is the stronghold of the south-western Diceros bicornis bicornis black rhino, one of the last three ecotypes of black rhinos remaining in the world. By donating, you directly contribute to preserving this unique species and protecting their habitat. Join us in this critical fight against poaching! Together, we can make a difference. 🌍💪 Please consider donating today and share this message to raise awareness. Together, we can ensure a future where these magnificent animals thrive. 🙏💚 #SaveTheRhino #AntiPoaching #ConservationHeroes #NamibiaWildlifeProtection #ARUGameLodges #APUTeam #DonateForRhinos #WildlifeConservation #EndangeredSpecies #ARU_Safaris #AfricanPHA #NamibiaWildlifeProtection #hunting #hunt #hunter #hunters #outdoorindustry #caza #jagt #jagd #oxota #chasse #elkhunting #deerseason #deerhunting #luxuryhuntinglodge #huntingisconservation #huntingseason #cabelas #taxidermy #biggamehunting #bowhunting #archery #rifle #firearms #firearm #safariclubinternational #fishing #huntafrica #huntress

Executive Director, SCOTLAND: The Big Picture. Working to make rewilding happen across Scotland, for wildlife, climate and people. #RewildingNation #generationrestoration #wildlifecomeback
It's said that a landscape without wildlife is just scenery. The reality is that across much of the UK, that's what we have - just scenery. It's true that we need to restore natural habitats at scale and with urgency, but it's also true that those habitats need to be populated with more life than currently exists - more insects, more fish, more reptiles, more birds and mammals. There are some brilliant organisations out there doing brilliant work in returning missing species, and I'd like to think I work for one of them. SCOTLAND: The Big Picture is currently running a Wildlife Comeback appeal with every donation being tripled! So, for every £25 you donate, £75 goes to restoring species such as beavers, cranes and even lynx. That's a pretty good deal wouldn't you say? If you donate, thank you. If you simply repost, thank you. More here: https://lnkd.in/e3Mqef8T #WildlifeComeback #rewilding #naturerecovery #generationrestoration #naturebasedsolutions #scotland
