We thank God for this opportunity and impact we’ll make for our community. ✈️ We’re halfway to our goal of raising $15,000 to provide passports & travel grants to deserving students! This #TooFlyTuesday, I wanted to highlight Too Fly Foundation’s work with the Dallas Mavericks & For Oak Cliff. Because of your generous contributions and an aligned vision of creating opportunities for our Dallas youth, we were able to pipeline our Virtual Reality travel program, Travel@Home, to Black & Brown students. This gave them an opportunity to travel to the home countries of Dallas Mav’s players (fun fact: the Mavs had one of the highest numbers of international players). Juneteenth is a day of liberation. On this day in 1865, Executive Order No. 3 freed all enslaved people in Texas. Today, we celebrate the resilience of our ancestors. We show gratitude to Mrs. Opal Lee for her advocacy to make today a recognized holiday. Last weekend, we came together under unity and love for our Juneteenth Festival & Farmers Market. It was a day of fellowship and community. Big shoutout to our annual Juneteenth Festival title partner @dtlrofficial - your annual contributions to this community experience mean so much to us. Over 1,800 community members joined us and enjoyed free food, fresh produce, swimming, dancing, mechanical bull, @thehoopbus, and so much more! Last year we held our inaugural headshot fundraiser to commemorate #Juneteenth and donated $900 to For Oak Cliff, a nonprofit organization committed to serving the South Oak Cliff community. I'm so excited to share that this year we surpassed 2023's total and donated over $1,250 to REMEMBERING BLACK DALLAS! The folks here work hard to document, preserve, and illuminate Black history and culture in Dallas, which we're so grateful for. In addition to raising money for an incredible cause, this fundraiser gave me the privilege of spending some quality 1:1 time with Alexandra, Amber, Colin, Christina, Dustin, Craig, Yu-Chun, and Moe. I can't wait to do this again next year. Big thanks to Dialexa, an IBM Company's DEI council for championing this initiative, to Meg and Evan for contributing their photography skills, and to all the Dialexans who participated! WE'RE HIRING! Do you enjoy maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment to keep the business operating efficiently? If so, then the Building Maintenance Technician is the job for you! You will play a key role in ensuring For Oak Cliff has safe, compliant and maintained facilities and grounds to continue achieving its mission. The Building Maintenance Technician should expect to be contacted for approximately two days (~10 hours) a week and the range FOC is looking to contract at is $25-30/hour. The contractor will be responsible for invoicing FOC for service rendered. This is not a benefits-eligible position. The contractor can expect to begin working with FOC as early as June 2024.
