MWC Tip of the Day #27: When prepping for an event, sometimes the lengthiest part of the process is doing vendor research. So in order to help future you, starting right now, what if you began to keep track of all of your vendor research in one place, from event to event, so that you can pad an "events rolodex" in which to reference for speedier execution? Here is what I am thinking...

Conference idea to potentially shake things up: $1 to attend. The catch is if you don’t show up your card is charged $799 for the would be ticket price. Get as many people to attend as possible. Vendors will pay a premium for more attendees which offsets the cost. Host in an area that’s easy/cheap to travel to. This also opens it up to attendees who might not normally come bc of cost. A win/win for attendees and vendors. Discuss.

𝐎𝐨𝐡 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐘 - MYSTERY EXHIBITOR! I came across this unique EXHIBITOR engagement methodology for conferences while reviewing event websites for possible new projects. The Worker's Compensation Institute secretly selects vendors in their exhibit hall, and those that visit THOSE booths during the allotted time receive a prize. This is a take off of exhibitor bingo, or other methods, but It has a special feel to it. Link in first comment.

In today's event industry landscape, it's increasingly common for event vendors to encounter scams. These scams can take various forms, from companies attempting to exploit vendors for free labor to misrepresented ticketed events like the infamous "Willy's Chocolate Experience." Moreover, the proliferation of online communication channels has facilitated sketchy email exchanges aimed at acquiring sensitive financial information. As a result, event professionals must exercise heightened vigilance to protect themselves and their businesses. Here are six comprehensive strategies that can help you spot potential scams: https://lnkd.in/gVa-5_tz #Ultratend #TradeShows #TradeShowIndustry #Exhibitions #TradeFair #EventMarketing #Scam #DigitalScam #UK #London

Senior Specialist & Developer - Supply Chain Analytics at TC Energy | Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
Our first Procurement Foundry meetup for 2024 has been booked for Thursday Feb 1st (4:30 PM - 7:30 PM). We will be at a new venue this time, but as always the venue will be downtown and for the privacy of attendees the location will not be posted publicly. If you would like to attend please send me a note to RSVP and I will provide details on the venue. Looking forward to seeing everybody! Some FAQ's: Q: What is the dress code? A: Business casual, or anything you would normally wear to a restaurant. Q: Are there any presentations? A: No presentations, no sponsors, and no sales pitches of any kind. We keep it very relaxed, low pressure, and inclusive. Q: Is there any cost to attend? A: Since we refuse to take on any sponsors, just pay for your own drinks/snacks. No entrance fees, and no cover charges. Pretty much exactly the same format as going for drinks after work with your colleagues. Q: Can I bring a friend or colleague? A: Absolutely, friends and colleagues that are in sourcing, supply chain, or procurement related roles are always welcome. Please just RSVP so I can let the venue know an approximate head count ahead of time. Q: What roles are people in that usually attend? A: Each meetup is attended by people ranging from very junior roles right up to Director and VP level. This is one of the best parts of our community, we have fostered a very inclusive group where everybody in attendance is interested in visiting with others regardless of their position-level or years of industry experience. Q: Do I have to be a Procurement Foundry member to attend? A: No, it is not a requirement. Most are members, but we always have a few that are just dropping in to connect or re-connect with industry peers. Q: Is membership really free? A: Yes, we keep access to the community completely free. Here's a link to sign up if you aren't a member and are eligible (buy-side practitioners only): https://lnkd.in/g3BJdGU3 If you have any other questions about the event or Procurement Foundry in general, just drop me a line. #procurement #event #procurementfoundry #supplychain #sourcing
