🎊 We’re thrilled to announce we’ve partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Kirk Humanitarian to launch the first-ever investment roadmap for scaling up complete prenatal supplements (MMS) to reach pregnant women in low- and middle-income countries. At less than two cents per daily tablet, MMS is a cost-effective solution that can prevent anemia, support healthy pregnancies, and give babies a strong start in life. https://prn.to/3XmoA2D

The Government of Senegal is spearheading efforts to explore the introduction of #MultipleMicronutrientSupplementation (MMS) for pregnant women. Nutrition International, with support from Eleanor Crook Foundation and the Waterloo Foundation are thrilled to support this initiative through the implementation of a nine-month grant (extended from the initial five months). Through this work, we are working closely with the government to conduct a rapid analysis to identify opportunities and challenges for the introduction and scale-up of #MMS in #Senegal and hosted a comprehensive workshop to share findings with stakeholders and prioritize key learning questions for #ImplementationResearch. The workshop, held from July 23-25th in #Dakar, aimed to validate the preliminary analysis of opportunities and challenges for introducing MMS in #Senegal and prioritized themes for implementation research. Together with our partners and stakeholders, we are committed to supporting the Government of Senegal in its efforts to enhance #nutrition and #health outcomes for women and their babies.

A global movement is gaining momentum to provide comprehensive prenatal vitamins to women in lower-income countries. From Ethiopia and Pakistan to Nepal and Nigeria, governments are exploring ways to ensure affordable access. But success requires robust partnerships. Our Managing Director, Kimberly Cernak, calls on governments, philanthropies, and the private sector to prioritize global maternal nutrition and make bold commitments. https://lnkd.in/dePxk8qp #InvestInMMS #MaternalNutrition

Meet Sapana, a dedicated community health worker in Nepal, inspired by her childhood illness to serve remote areas. She now works in Lumbini Province, participating in a vital research trial on multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS), a prenatal vitamin that improves pregnancy and birth outcomes. This trial, in partnership with the government of Nepal, funded by the Eleanor Crook Foundation and implemented by Helen Keller Intl and Sight and Life Foundation, is part of Nepal’s efforts to scale MMS nationwide. Globally, philanthropies including the Gates Foundation and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation are supporting MMS initiatives to improve maternal and child health. Despite MMS’s benefits, access remains limited in many low- and middle-income countries. Sapana hopes MMS will reduce neonatal and maternal mortality, her story highlights the heroic efforts of health workers driving progress in their communities. #nutrition #maternalnutrition #mms #nepal #philanthropy

Can we save more children's lives by combining immunization and nutrition services? 💉 At a recent World Health Assembly side event, global health and nutrition experts discussed the promise and challenges of this integrated approach. Malnutrition impairs immune responses, increases infection risk, and lowers vaccine effectiveness. Often, children at high risk of malnutrition also miss critical immunizations. By addressing both issues together, we could significantly improve health outcomes for vulnerable children. 📜 Check out the full event summary on our website: https://lnkd.in/daAM825J

The global momentum for the introduction and scale-up of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) is at a tipping point. Governments and stakeholders in dozens of countries have identified the delivery of MMS to vulnerable women as an urgent priority. They are ready to take action but need additional support and resources from the international community. The MMS investment roadmap provides a clear framework for international funders to meet this critical moment in maternal and child health. https://bit.ly/4bUGUng
