The Community Scholars' 2024 Summer Youth Program successfully closed its third year due to the hard work and dedication of our program participants and the collaboration of our many partners. Our program youth not only studied Business, Hospitality, and Sustainability but also completed coursework from Harvard University and the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) as well as attended civic engagement workshops facilitated by local elected officials to include Orlando City Commissioners Tony Ortiz and Shaniqua “Shan” Rose, Orange County Commissioner Mayra Uribe, Florida State Representative Johanna López, and Florida State Senators Linda Stewart and Carlos Guillermo Smith alongside special guests Pamela Nabors from CareerSource Central Florida and Juan Marcos Vilar from Alianza Center. Our program was managed by the Episcopal Churches of Christ the King Episcopal Church and Iglesia Episcopal Jesus de Nazaret in collaboration with the Renacer Foundation through a generous partnership with CareerSource Central Florida. We are grateful to Alianza Center for being our sponsor and patron this year and supporting our program, Azalea Park. Take a close look at our video, and you will also see our students showing gratitude to Alianza's partner, Walt Disney World, for supporting Alianza's work that reaches so many in our greater Central Florida community. Thanks to our instructors, Willian Trejo, Nereida Perez, Jaime del Valle, and Henry Mendoza, our program participants, Alani Williams, Nathan Davilma, and Abigail Furtado, and Calao Corp, for coming together and telling the story of all our participants.

Jesus was a carpenter. Jhon is an aspiring media producer. Our mission at Christ the King is to walk with people our in the marketplace, in the community, in their daily lives. Workforce development is one way of how we walk with people. Jhon F Gamboa is one of our livestream technicians. He was mentored by Renacer Foundation through a program at CareerSource Central Florida. Many people don’t understand many of the working parts of our ministry at the Episcopal Churches of Christ the King Episcopal Church and Iglesia Episcopal Jesus de Nazaret but watch the video and learn a little about us, Jhon, and our friends out in the community. #incarnation #walkwithjesus #PaLanteJuntos
The Renacer Foundation is grateful to CareerSource Central Florida for entrusting us with the hopes and aspirations of our community members. CareerSource provides many opportunities to uplift local workers and strengthen our workers, their families, our shared community, and the regional economy. Through partnerships with local employers and community-based organizations like us and Christ the King Episcopal Church, CareerSource invests in our community and those of us who serve it. Jhon F Gamboa is one of the many qualified, capable, and available workers ready to work. His internship at the Renacer Foundation gave him experience. It empowered him to not only serve thousands of disadvantaged community members but also let him tap into his inner resilience and dare to aspire for a bright future. We have partnered with CareerSource and have seen the story of many workers firsthand.

We have a youth orchestra and are blessed by the investment of several organizations into the success of the youth it serves. Last night our Senior Warden, Tom Hinson, joined our Rector, Padre Jose Rodriguez, Assistant Rector, Mother Maytee De La Torre Diaz, and our Director of Outreach, Henry Mendoza, at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for a performance of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. We are grateful for ecumenical partner, Father Hoower Cajicá at the Renacer Foundation, for working with the philharmonic to obtain admission for the children we serve and other leaders. We are also grateful to the Alianza Center in the continued support of youth arts but also the programming at the La Familia Health Equity and Resilience Center, an Alianza Latino Resilience Network resilience center hosted at our church.
The Renacer Foundation, in collaboration with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrated and supported the success of You El Sistema Orlando with an afternoon performance at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. This youth orchestra is hosted at Christ the King Episcopal Church with generous support from Renacer and many of our partners. We are thankful to US Rep. Maxwell Frost, US Rep. Darren Soto, FL Rep. Johanna López, and former FL Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith for joining us and supporting Latino youth arts in Central Florida. We are also thankful for the support of community leaders who also joined and supported us Juan Marcos Vilar with Alianza Center, Padre Jose Rodriguez with The Episcopal Church, and many others for helping make this celebration remarkable.
