Today, we are proud to be in our nation’s capital for the Hispanic Federation 2024 Advance Change Together (ACT) Convening, where we will discuss the pro and anti-LGBTQ+ bills proposed at both the federal and state levels. Alongside ACT grantee members, we are here to gain valuable insights into how our communities are educating themselves on Latine LGBTQ+ issues and advocating for change with their state representatives. With the upcoming election approaching, it’s crucial that we leverage our collective experiences and connections to prepare for what lies ahead. As we wrap up the celebration of PRIDE Month, we continue the hard work year around.    Join us on IG stories & X throughout the day for updates and insights! 🗣️

Today, as we celebrate our nation's independence, we also celebrate the rich diversity that makes America exceptional. Latinos, now making up 19% of the population, are an essential part of our nation. Our voices, our stories, and our contributions are vital to shaping the future of this country.    For generations, families who flee civil strife, leave their country behind to come to this land with hopes and dreams, bring with them a rich culture and an unwavering spirit. This has shaped the very fabric of our nation. At Hispanic Federation, we are committed to uplifting one another, fostering unity, and building bridges of understanding across all communities.    Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Today we wrapped up our third visit to the U.S. Virgin Islands to provide hundreds of local farmworkers with pandemic relief through the USDA Farm and Food Workers Relief Program. The program provides a much-needed and deserved one-time $600 payment for expenses incurred by these workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to our invaluable collaboration with the “Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition,” we were able to reach hundreds of farmworkers from Saint Croix, Saint Thomas, and Saint John.     HF President and CEO, Frankie Miranda, also joined the effort and met with local philanthropic and nonprofit partners in Saint Croix who are committed to uplifting communities, including the large Latinx diaspora who call the island home.     We extend our deepest gratitude to our U.S. Virgin Islands partners and to the hardworking farmers and farmworkers who we met.    #USDA #FFWR

Earlier this month, WorkingNation and Scripps News Network brought together an incredible group of experts in Denver to talk about one of the most important issues in the workforce today, equitable access to jobs and career advancement for mid-career and older adults. One in five workers in the labor force is over the age of 55 and that number is expected to grow to over one in four over the next few years as people are working longer, either out of financial necessity or personal desire. The conversation for the upcoming TV show Breaking Barriers: Embracing Age in the Workforce centered around age stereotypes that are putting a damper on hiring and promotion opportunities for people in their 40s, 50s, and older. Our very own, Diana Caba, vice-president for economic development at the Hispanic Federation talked about efforts to end ageism in the workplace and the enormous benefits of hiring these workers. This is information everyone needs to hear, from employer to employee to job seeker to policy maker. Make sure to grab your snacks and tune in tonight at 9 p.m. ET to hear from incredible experts discussing important issues in the workforce today here: https://lnkd.in/gWwt_ERV

Did you know that low vaccination rates persist in vulnerable communities, highlighting systemic healthcare inequities? Barriers to access, misinformation, and historical mistrust of medical science all contribute to these concerning outcomes. By prioritizing data equity, we can address this crisis and create outreach programs to improve vaccination rates and health outcomes.     Transparent data practices not only build trust but also guide programs, improving community health and resilience. Let's work together to ensure vaccination campaigns that work for all. #DataEquity #MakeYourDataCount

Hispanic Federation partnered with La Casa Norte on a series of Volunteer Impact Days. Today was our second Volunteer Impact Day and we helped pack over 150 meal kits for community members who are impacted by food insecurity.   We also had the pleasure of helping beautify La Casa Norte's rooftop with our HF green thumbs! Thank you to the volunteers from Grainger and Bank of America who joined us in making a difference for the community.
