Wondering How Volunteers Make a Difference in Our Schools? 📚 A 5th-grade teacher needed help reviewing books with students. A family friend stepped up, and two more amazing community members joined in too! 📖 Our literacy teacher benefits from two incredible regular volunteers who dedicate their time each week to help students improve their reading and literacy skills. ❤️Our library thrives thanks to a dedicated volunteer who is also the mother of one of our special education teachers! She organizes books and treats our staff to delicious homemade baked goods. Join us and make a difference too! It’s National Safety Month! At Ankeny Schools, safety is a top priority. A few ways that we keep our students and staff safe during the school year is by practicing emergency drills, training our staff in case of emergency situations, having secure entry processes in all buildings, and having a designated safety team ready for extreme situations. As always, you can exemplify safety anywhere by using technology responsibly, identifying the trusted individuals you can count on, and having emergency numbers at quick disposal. If you see something that seems off, click the butterfly on our website to report an anonymous claim. Together, we create a safe environment for our community! Feel free to review our safety procedures on our website. https://lnkd.in/gSVz6Y3m #NationalSafetyMonth #SchoolSafety #AnkenySchools #CommunityFirst

Congratulations to Heritage student Cece on being awarded the 2024 JA BizTown Citizen of the Year! Cece was nominated by her teacher, who noted that Cece "excelled at Biztown. She was the CEO of the bank and couldn't have done it better. She was constantly working hard and modeling for other students how a citizen should act. Cece went above and beyond at Biztown in order to make the bank successful and Biztown run smoothly. She helped others throughout her day even when she was not working. Cece is an excellent role model for all other students attending JA Biztown.” Cece was recently recognized at the Junior Achievement of Central Iowa Appreciation Event at an Iowa Cubs baseball game. Way to go, Cece!
Last week we had the pleasure of celebrating our annual Appreciation Event winners! Join us in congratulating Ankeny Community School District student, Cecilia on earning the JA BizTown Citizen of the Year Award! 🎉
