On April 19, 2024, the Ames School Board of Directors named Scott Grimes as the next Superintendent of Ames Community School District, pending board approval. An important announcement went out to our staff and families regarding Superintendent Dr. Julious Lawson. We wish to share it with our community as well. It is with a mix of emotions that we share the news of Superintendent Dr. Julious Lawson’s resignation, which he submitted to school board leadership on January 25, 2024. Dr. Lawson has been an invaluable leader for our District, and his departure is bittersweet. The board is moving swiftly to find a suitable replacement, and will discuss the details of the search at the upcoming board meeting on February 5. The acquisition of this property is a major step for the District, one that marks a transformative step towards fostering a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.
