I had no idea this was supposed to be dystopian until later but imo it wasn’t really. This just seemed super realistic to me and not as dsytopian as I thought the trails would be. I wish for more character connections and possibly no dual POV because I don’t know if it was really needed here. I do see why it was added though but I think because of that it made the characters a bit surface level when I know this could’ve gone deeper. Overall, a good read that explored heavy but important topics.

I will say it’s not spooky or scary at all, it felt very YA or almost cozy vibes - but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I just wanted more spooky but it’s probably good for younger readers.
I also struggled with separating Jaime and Theo’s voice - they sounded almost the same the whole time. I thought their romance was cute and I liked the trio’s friendship. Enjoyable story overall and solid debut!

The stories are all too short to have any substance to them. A lot of them were kind of forgettable too! I recognized a few authors so that was fun. I think my fave short story was Hey There Demons by Tara Sim which is funny because I haven’t read anything from her. Maybe this is my sign to do so!

I decided to go for it since there isn’t much Persian representation. This was much different than my previous experience and I’m glad I read this.
It follows 3 perspectives of Mood, Saeed, and Bobby from different generations taking place in both Tehran, Iran and Los Angeles, California. The story was poignant, sweet, and an overall strong coming of age with identity and finding yourself. I felt seen with a lot of the Persian references as well. The only thing I wish is that the chapters were broken up a little differently !

Much more fantasy oriented than I expected instead of horror but since it’s YA, I should’ve known that. I wish it was spooky thought because it wasn't at all, it just felt rather stereotypical and flat. I also do feel like she was trying to make it like a lot of other stories. I liked the sapphic romance though! I think this is more of a 2 stars but.. I'm feeling generous today.
