It is not that there is something wrong here, it is simply that I don't find this story interesting. I am not into the investigation because the suspense is barely existent,it has nothing juicy enough to keep me intrigued there, and I have been waiting too long for the romance. After a 70% of the story, a few hints about a romantic interest are not sufficient for me. That, coupled with the fact that I couldn't care less for the plot, made me loose my patience and I decided not to keep wasting my time with a book I wasn't really enjoying. ...more

I am shocked this book was published. It is a mountain of clichés. Normally, I avoid giving 1 star ratings, but here I couldn't help myself. It is bad and I would recommend to stay away from it, far far away. I don't like being this harsh, but I am kind of offended by what I have read.
It is categorized as paranormal romance, however, based on what I have read, I wouldn't even go as far as to call it new-adult fantasy. The characters act and speak like teenagers in a high-shool drama. Yes, the events evolve around university and there is some sexual content, but except that, this story is a 101 high-school drama. The vampire aspect of it is not even relevant at all, at least for the first 50% of the book. That was my goal, reaching that mark, 50%. Now, I wish I had quit at 10%. What a waste of time. Then there is the undying instant love the two main characters have going on which is unswallowable (I just made a word up, but you know what I mean). The whole thing is incredibly superfluous and unrealistic. It seems opportunistic and brain dumbing.
Hard NO.
P.S: The audiobook narrator is pretty great. She is the only reason I managed to get through 50% of this torturous book....more

I just couldn't continue. It really put me to sleep, all the interest I had for the story after the first book was drained right out of this one.
The heroine took a down turn in this second installment. Her relationship with her mother makes little sense. Why she obeys her or even listen to her escapes my understanding. The way she is going about her life is pointless and passive in reference to what the real problem is. Cécile is basically a doormat for most of the book, well, an annoying one at that.
All the characters in general make their minds abruptly and with little convincing needed.
The story advances in such slow terms that looking back, all the those hours spent listening come to a summary of no longer than a sentence. Most of the book is trivial.
Lastly, where is the romance? Can Cécile and Tristan have less chemistry, or even less feelings of love towards each other? Ugh...

I am so over this.
Nothing has changed. We get the same conversations and situations over and over. There is no difference between the two first books of the series and this one. We are reading the same book repeatedly. I can't stand any longer all the bitchiness, meanness, randomness and plane badness of all the characters. The reflections and dialogues of the characters are illogical, they make no sense whatsoever and piss me off. The characters are an example of bad decision making and of the bad sides of humans. It is shameful how the teenage girls are portrait here over and over again. The boys are entitled cowards, all bark and no bite. It is disgusting to see. I am so fed up with al this I can't continue any longer reading this series, it is depressing. No more.

I did not like this book, at least not the part I read, which was pretty bad. I feel bad about giving it one start since who knows how the rest of the book would have gone since I never got to it, but what I do know is that I wasn't enjoying anything enough to keep me reading. I didn't care about the characters or what whats happening to them, there was no connecting to them because they were two-dimensional. Everything was painfully cliché, superficial and infantile. It was one stereotype after another with nothing original or valuable at all. Considering all that, it is not a surprise that I didn't like the portrayal of a single character found in there, specially the female protagonist. I found Michelle's portrayal, underdeveloped as it was, kind of offensive, like a prejudiced caricature and over-sexualized woman. Also, it was terribly annoying having Michelle constantly speaking in French, what a way to fill a book with air. Overall, I just had this bothersome feeling that I could tell this book was clearly written by a man and mostly directed to some males interests, it is definitely not for me or what I look for in a book....more

I didn't like it. After 70% of the audiobook I couldn't keep listening. So boring, uninteresting and repetitive. The whole time, the story went around in circles with barely any evolution. The main characters are brainless and very simple minded. It was painful to me how Jaxx couldn't make a logical or rational decision.
I have read several books of this series by now, and although I enjoyed the first ones back when I started reading romance, right now I have more experience and thus I have started to see the stories in these books differently. They have become more blah in my mind, kind of tiresome and quite chauvinistic. Hence, I have decided to stop reading this series and Christine Feehan altogether....more
