“The question has never been who my list is about,” Jeremy told her. “It’s been about whether she’ll have me.”
Three years ago, Chloe Fong told her childhood sweetheart to be serious, and he left and hasn't returned... until now. Jeremy is secretly the Duke of Lansing, and he's returned because he wants to marry Chloe. But he has to convince her that he's serious about her, even if he's mischievous in everything else.
“I like all your worst qualities.”
I thought this was a very sweet historical romance with lots of humor and witty banter. The storyline with the sauce Chloe and her father were making was one of my favorite parts, I honestly really wanted to try this fictional sauce they were making. I normally like my historical romance angsty, and this one wasn't but in a fun way. I really enjoyed seeing two people begin to get to know each other and help the other one thrive and grow. And I'm excited to read more by Courtney Milan!

Cannot express how disappointing this book was. I was expecting a riveting mystery/thriller and got a convoluted mess instead. Also, would love to see the end of the pill popping/unreliable female narrator in mysteries: it's incredibly overdone and I'm tired of it.
I won't go much into the plot (because there wasn't much of one) but the story had potential to be interesting if it weren't written in such a confusing manner. Also by the time we got to the reveal it was incredibly anti-climactic. I listened to the audiobook and that was fairly okay....more

I.... yeah. I don't like this new trend of witchy books with cutesy covers, they almost always disappoint.
Mariel is supposed to be an all powerful witch, except she hasn't mastered her power. When she accidentally summons a demon, the two are trapped together until they can figure out a way out of a bargain for her soul. As time goes by, the two must fake date and end up catching feelings.
There were many times when I was listening to this book that I verbally said out loud "wow this is bad" or made ick faces at some of the dialogue and sex scenes. Because I was reading this for a book discussion, I didn't quit like I normally would and it did get a little better in the second half. I wish we had gotten more of the dying nature storyline than we did the annoying family.
I wish I had liked it more, but when a book that unalives a chicken that way in the first few pages to be funny(?), I knew right away it wouldn't be for me.
PS: the audiobook narrator was terrible at male voices. That probably didn't help me not enjoying this book....more

Well Traveled is about Lulu, who while at the Ren Faire, quits her high powered soul sucking job in a blaze of glory. Faced with an uncertain future, she teams up with The Dueling Kilts to travel the circuit for a couple of weeks. Lulu gets along great with the band and Stacy, but Dex the casanova type guitarist and flirt may be her biggest temptation.
I really enjoyed this installment of the Well Met series, probably more than books 2 and 3. This one followed with the finding yourself theme in the series and Lulu had a lot of work to do to get back to who she really was in life. I thought the romance with Dex was slightly lacking... it didn't feel well developed to me by the end to truly be love. But I enjoyed the banter between the two of them. But mostly, Lulu's journey was the best part of this book. I might even look into learning tarot because of it!

The story of teenage girl Darcy who spends most of her time hidden away in a book. Darcy’s mother suffers from compulsive shopping and hoarding, and Darcy copes by getting lost in the words inside her head. When she starts running into Asher, a former teen pilot, the two form a friendship that begins to be something more.
I really enjoyed this teen novel, it’s exactly what a contemporary teen book should be. I loved being in Darcy’s head and seeing how she saw the world. It’s so cool that she had a somewhat photographic memory. The development of her friendship/romance with Asher was a slow burn but really well done. And I loved all the characters in this book. I think this is a great book about coming out of your shell and embracing a new world around you....more

I listened to the audiobook which I had to speed up to 2.0 speed instead of my usual 1.75, the narrator did long pauses in odd places. But I liked him, he did great with all the voices and accents.
Gareth came across as a fun himbo, even though he was basically described as an ugly duckling constantly by the author. I enjoyed all the scenarios where he would get into misunderstandings and people thought he was just being coy. I though Gareth paired with Joss was a great choice, the bumbling hero with a rogueish hot smuggler? Instant chemistry.
Some characters and plots thrown in seemed to not fit, but maybe it is set up for the next book. This was my first KJ Charles book and I would be happy to read more by this author in the future....more

Orphan Harry is set to marry Edward, a sweet man from a wealthy family with a legacy. Edward had severed ties with his family, but now that he’s engaged to Harry his family uses her as a way to rope him back in. And the family loves playing games.
I was excited for this book based on the title/cover/author. It started out really strong in its premise, I very much got the vibes of the Ready or Not horror film while reading this. But the buildup didn’t really pay off and I felt a lot of things were rushed at the end without being properly developed. Enjoyed it, but it didn’t blow me away....more

Probably my least favorite book in the series so far. Finlay and Vero find themselves at like a cop boot camp with their neighbors (is that a thing in real life?) where they are there to find out the real identity of Easy Clean (I listened to the audio not sure if I spelled that correctly). Finlay finds herself distracted by Felicks the mob boss, the antics of her children and her ex, and the hot cop Nick.
Sadly, of the love triangle set up in book one, Finlay seems to be choosing Nick and it honestly is taking away from my overall enjoyment of the book. Aside from his career choice, there’s also just something off about his character that I don’t like. The antics of Finlay’s children and her banter with Vero are what saved this book and series for me. I for sure will read whatever comes next, but this third book wasn’t as good as the first two (but it was still darn good!).
I was given an arc by the publisher, but I never read it and then checked out the e-audio from the library instead. Not sure if that counts but I wanted to include that haha ...more

I think Alice Feeney did a great job with this book. At first I thought it was kind of slow, but the way she weaved the story and how it came together in the end paid off very well. I don’t want to give away many spoilers, but some parts of the end I guessed correctly, some I saw the hints but didn’t connect the dots, and some things I never saw coming....more

Gabe and Pippa’s dream home is a cottage on the cliffs in a small coastal town. Except the tall cliffs are a popular spot for people seeking to end their lives. Normally, Gabe can talk them out of it. Until one night, he isn’t able to. When Pippa discovers Gabe knew this victim, she begins to question everything.
Sally Hepworth is quickly becoming one of my favorite thriller writers; this is the third book I’ve read by her and all of them were great. Her books are more a domestic thriller, mind games more than a murder mystery kind of thriller. But I like how I can never quite figure everything out before hand and she does a really good job at painting a picture of the characters and locations.
I will say I thought it was ridiculous that this couple would stay in a home even after one person tried to jump. But there was also a lot of stuff that Gabe did that made me wonder the mental stability of Pippa. It’s an intriguing book because even though it all seems over the top when you say it out loud, it kind of makes sense when you’re reading it. I’m excited for the next book Sally Hepworth has for us, she is an auto-read author for me now.

I seem to be in the unpopular opinion club when it comes to this authors works, because this is the second book I’ve read by her and been incredibly underwhelmed. I saw other negative reviews mention the big aspect that I hated: author’s writing style and use of similes. Why does she constantly use similes? We don’t need this many. It felt like the first 50% of this book could have been cut out because of them.
I felt the last 20% of this book was really excellent, it’s when the most happened plot wise. It was actually a two star read for me until the ending, I actually really enjoyed that and wished the book had been more action heavy versus pretty writing the whole time. I always give authors three chances, sometimes four. So I’m not writing this author off just yet.
Again, I seem to be in the unpopular opinion category so please read this book yourself, you might love it....more

After loving books 1 and 3 of the Brown sisters series, I was really excited to read this book. To my surprise, it just kind of got worse the longer I listened to it. It started off not great with annoying characters, and then got better when the two main characters grew together. But then the end was convoluted and just, well, bad. It made me sad because I think I should have given up on the book earlier and not just continued on. I love Talia Hibbert's books, usually. This one just seemed to be a miss for me....more

When Toni was a young girl, she was dropped off at her father’s bar with only a guitar. There, she met her childhood friend Seb, and the two of them planned to leave together. But when Seb turned eighteen, he left Toni behind. Now, about seven years later, Toni has made a name for herself in the indie music scene. But when she auditions for an up and coming band The Lilly’s, she is reunited with Seb again.
This book had a lot going for it, rock star romance, second chance romance. But it really fell kind of flat for me. I loved all of Toni’s portions of the book, but I strongly believe Seb’s POV could have been cut all together. That with slow placing and more than 400 pages, the kiss of death for me. I listened to the audio and pretty much same opinion, female narrator great, male one awful. Plus, sex scenes in a book shouldn’t make me verbally say out loud “ew”.
