Back to TopUsed Trader Joe's Lemon Elderflower Soda which definitely changed this recipe, but delightful none the less on a hot summer afternoon

My guests and I enjoyed the flavours, but found it a bit too "boozy"! Next time I'd use less Campari. I used San Pellegrino Limonata for the soda component.

First, to those from Europe and Canada lemon soda would mean a sweetened, fizzy lemon drink. Soda is the same as pop or soft drink. Lemon Fanta would work well for instance. I like the idea of Sanpelligrino Limonata myself and would have used it myself but didn't have any. I don't find the campari syrupy as someone did but I think the fizzy element definitely needs some sweetness. I just used San Pellegrino sparkling water and the result was a bit bitter for my taste although I like campari and soda. I liked this but would like a bit more sweetness and I also think that even with that, a 2:1 ratio of rosé to campari would work better for my taste. Still refreshing and flavourful as a summery cocktail.

Campari is way too bitter for the recipe proportions. We doubled the lemon soda and rose and even then it had a distinct cough syrup quality. Thumbs down all around.

We used Sanpellegrino Limonata soda from our local big box grocery store. Worked perfectly. Items from the same region blend well, for example, Campari and Sanpelligrino soda. Good cocktail. Try it.

This is a nice change from my usual Campari and soda with lime. I used Lorina sparkling lemonade. I think the best ratio is 1 Campari to 2 rose wine, top with lemon soda. It would work with 7-Up or Sprite too. I will also try the sparkling rose sometime too.
