Vanna White has remained one of the most iconic faces on television for decades, most notably due to her work on Wheel of Fortune. Co-hosting the game show requires long filming days, which means that snacks backstage between takes are a must.

For White, these snacks have changed over the years, but she has most recently gravitated toward healthier options to help keep her fueled and satisfied on set.

“They always have little snacks back here,” White says in a recent Instagram video. “They used to bring cookies, they used to bring chips, they used to bring all the bad snacks and I used to eat them. And I said, ‘Do not bring them anymore!’”

Although we love that White advocated for healthier options, at EatingWell, we believe that any foods—including snacks like chips and cookies—can be enjoyed in moderation within a healthy eating pattern. There’s no such thing as “bad” foods if they give you joy—just be sure to support balance in your diet.

What does the co-host’s perfect small bite look like? Mixed nuts and chocolate, which is an ideal salty-sweet snack. Here’s why.

Eating assorted nuts like almonds, cashews, peanuts and walnuts on the regular can have amazing health benefits. They’re packed with protein and healthy fats that will keep you satisfied and energized between meals. Plus, they’re rich in antioxidants like flavonoids, which can help reduce inflammation and support your immune health.

And while White says she tries not to eat too much of the chocolate on set, dark chocolate is a surprisingly heart-healthy, brain-healthy choice when eaten in small quantities. So we say go for it! We think she would love these Dark Chocolate Cashew Clusters for the ultimate bite. Overall, we’re definitely on board with White’s choices for a nutritious snack.
