Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is a target for another Premier League club, according to reports. 

The 20 year-old has impressed since joining the Eagles from Blackburn for £22.5million in January.

His rise over the past six months has seen him get called up to England's 26-man squad for the upcoming European Championships


Wharton's performances have not gone unnoticed within the top flight and Manchester City have identified him as a long-term target, according to the Evening Standard. 

The reports states that the Premier League champions will not make a move for Wharton this summer but they view him as a potential future signing.

Palace saw off competition from Bayern Munich and Chelsea to sign Wharton and the exposure to first-team Premier League football at Selhurst Park has catapulted his career. 

He is flourishing under Oliver Glasner and was instrumental in their superb end to the season where they beat the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United.

Wharton made his England debut after coming off the bench in the friendly win against Bosnia, 112 days after his first top flight appearance. 

Southgate was left impressed with the youngster, saying: 'Adam Wharton showed what he has been doing at the end of the season and in training. 

'I like what he's done with us in the first few days. He sees pictures early and can play forward. It is very early for him but lovely that he looked as comfortable as he did.
