Utah State University fires athletics director Amy Crosbie less than a week after it moved to terminate head football coach Blake Anderson - who once said it 'has never been more glamorized to be the victim of sexual assault'

The Utah State Aggies have laid off their athletics director just days after parting ways with their head football coach in the wake of alleged Title IX noncompliance of university policies.

On Monday, Amy Crosbie, who served as the 'Executive Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs/Senior Woman Administrator' for the past five years at the school, was terminated, according to The Cache Valey Daily

She was let go after a series of dismissals involving the program's head football coach, Blake Anderson, 'Associate Vice President & Deputy Athletic Director of External Affairs' Jerry Bovee, and 'Director of Player Development and Community' Austin Albrecht.

The university stated that its decision came after a 'thorough external review of alleged noncompliance with university policies that implement Title IX, which require full and timely reporting of disclosure of sexual misconduct - including domestic violence - and prohibit employees from investigating disclosures of sexual misconduct themselves.'

In December 2021, Anderson apologized for telling players on the football team that it 'has never been more glamorized to be the victim of sexual assault.'

Footage of Anderson’s team talk surfaced that year before Utah State played Oregon State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl.

The viral clip was also mentioned in a lawsuit filed by Kaytriauna Flint - a student who alleges that the university mishandled her sexual assault report involving one of its football players in 2019. Flint eventually settled with the school in court for $500,000.

On Tuesday, Utah State declined to comment on whether Crosbie's termination was related to firings tied to alleged Title IX noncompliance of university policies, per The Cache Valey Daily.

Bovee, however, claimed that he didn't fail to report any misconduct from the past, including Anderson's comments.

Referring to Crosbie, he posted on X on Monday: 'Just learned that one of the best people I've worked with was dismissed late today from her (sic) role as SWA with Utah State Athletics.

'The student-athlete experience for just over 400 young people just slipped a notch backward. Amy Crosbie will be missed.'

At Utah State, Crosbie was tasked with overseeing compliance, academics, strength and conditioning, and Title IX compliance among other duties like sport supervision for gymnastics, women's soccer, men's and women's track & field/cross country, and volleyball.

She was also responsible for promoting women's representation in college sports leadership and management.

Crosbie was in her second stint at USU athletics, having previously spent seven years as an administrator with the Aggies before working as 'Senior Associate Athletics Director' and 'Senior Woman Administrator' at Weber State University from 2010 to 2019.

In July 2019, Crosbie returned to Utah State.

Utah State was previously involved in a scandal regarding Torrey Green, who was convicted in 2019 for sexually assaulting six women between 2013 and 2015 when he was on the university football team.

Four women reported to police being assaulted by Green, but no charges were filed until after The Salt Lake Tribune published a story about the case.
