A one-bedroom cliff-side cottage that appeared in BBC's Poldark has sold for £423,000.

Bidding for the property, which has views over one of Cornwall's best beaches, began on Monday at a guide price of £395,000 before nearly £30,000 was added to the value over two days of offers.

According to auctioneers, the property has the potential to be transformed into a 'Grand-Designs style project'.

Porthscylla, the detached property in Porthcurno, Penzance, featured in Poldark as a fictional cove.

This could be good news for the buyer, as it now requires a course of updating throughout

The quaint chalet-style bungalow currently has an entrance/utility area, a toilet, a kitchen, shower room with a double basin, a double bedroom and a living/dining room.

Clive Emson Auctioneers said: 'There's not many places you can stay where you've got Porthcurno on your doorstep as a beach and Minack Theatre as your neighbour.'

A Senior Auction Appraiser at the auctioneers said before bidding opened someone 'would be crazy not to fall in love with it' if they paid a visit.

They added: 'Something like this offered to the auction market in such a truly beautiful un-spoilt location really is an absolute rarity.'

Porthcurno appeared as Nampara Cove in Poldark, which ran for 43 episodes across five series between 2015 and 2019.

The secluded idyllic white sandy beach is enclosed between steep cliffs on either side, the south of which houses Porthscylla and, as of yesterday, a new resident.
