This viewing ball is beautiful. There was an issue with the the installation of the batteries because the tiny screws securing the battery compartment. I contacted the vendor direct, they listened to my issue, apologized and within minutes I had a response. The CS person said they were shipping me a new ball at no charge and I could keep the defective one. This is one of the best and quickest response I have ever received when having issues with a product. Feel free to buy products from Alpine Corporation thru Amazon.

We love the concept and the appearance of lighted orb in a stand however ther are a couple of issues with it:

The light module does not fit snugly enough to stay in the orb. Every couple days we find it has dropped out of the orb and is resting on the table top.

One of the screw holes for the threads of the battery cover screw is already cracked.

Fix these issues and you have a winner.

When I opened the box, I gasped at how beautiful it was! But sadly, all the LED lights were crunched into one side of the ball. There's a little "Try Me" button on the box that makes them light up. All the lights were in one little area and it just didn't look very good when lit. Honestly, it looked like something I made for my teenage bedroom in the 70s. The "lit" part lasted less than a minute, and then the lights stopped working. When I kept pressing the button, they flickered a little but wouldn't come on full force. I suspect that there was some sort of damage done to the lights... ya think, duh? Anyway, I needed this as a birthday present and there was no time to mess with a replacement, so I had to punt and get something else. I also was in a super hurry, so I really didn't want to bother with putting batteries in to see if that made any difference. If the lights had been distributed in the ball the right way, I would have, but I couldn't see how it would have made any difference in this case. What a shame, because when the lights are right, I'm sure it's a beautiful product.

This globe is really beautiful, however...I was searching "outdoor solar lights" when I found it so I assumed it was a solar light. IT IS NOT A SOLAR LIGHT! It is battery operated and not waterproof. It uses 4 AA batteries and has a 6 hour timer. It will work fine for me. I removed the battery lights and ordered a replacement solar light from Amazon (make sure you get the one that has the light and solar charger facing up since the light attaches on the bottom of the globe) to use in it instead. Problem solved.
