The color is not a bright purple as shown in the description, it’s more a muted plum. It did have a few scratches on the globe but decided to keep it because of the aggravation of returning it.

I was concerned because on the Amazon/Alpine site they showed a pumped up color version of the purple gazing ball which was way too bright - however, they also showed a photo of the ball in the garden and that was a color I liked so I took my chances and bought the ball and it arrived and it was a really nice color - Alpine should pay CLOSE attention to making sure the color of the product is a good match to the real item - Alpine right now shows an 'enhanced' color on some of the gazing balls - it's not only NOT accurate the enhanced colors aren't even attractive - (tacky) the photos should reflect the color accurately as the real color is very nice.

You know when something seems too good to be true? I chose this gazing ball because it was half the price of the others I had seen. I thought maybe other customers didn't care for purple??? Anyhow, it arrived and I did not un-box it because I was waiting for the stand. The stand arrived several days later. When I unboxed the ball, which was packaged VERY securely surrounded with styrofoam sheets for protection, I saw that the finish was not good. There was a very odd, chalky film on the globe. Upon further inspection I noticed several small holes in the surface of the gazing ball. They are like tiny pin pricks that are very close together. Maybe how they affix them to a rack when they are being painted?? There were several sets of these tiny holes. I was going to return the item, but since it is just going in my garden pretty far from where anyone would be able to see the imperfections, I decided to just keep it. I hope these holes don't impact the finish when the gazing ball is exposed to the elements. I think the yellow chalky film was just dust or pollen from wherever it sat in storage before shipping. I was a le to clean that off. Also, the 'plug' at the bottom of the ball does not stay in place. I don't know what the plug is for, but I am assuming it is on there for a reason-maybe to keep chipmunks out????? Anyhow, I guess you get what you pay for. Still not sure if all the purple ones had defective spots, but it is what it is. If I had been giving this gazing ball as a gift, I would have exchanged it for one without defects, but for myself, I will make do.

The ball is good quality except it had a small bump on the bottom of the glass. It almost looked like a tiny drop of glass dripped on the ball when it was being made. But it's not really noticeable once the ball is in the stand.

This product is very poor quality. I purchased two at the end of May and the were delivered
on June 1st 2018. The color has change completely and the are now just clear glass. It is now September 17th 2018. I contacted Amazon customer service and was told all the can offer me is a $10.00 credit due to the fact that the return policy is expired. If you are thinking of making a purchase on product please don’t because you will not be happy after 2 months. VERY POOR QUALITY FOR THE PRICE.
