Fantastic fountain... although one of the four lights was damaged (LED was chipped). I sent an email to Alpine's customer service... which was apparently lost but recovered a couple months later and eventually responded to. Alpine sent (2) replacement lights which was fortunate since a second light burned out on a different mount. Read observation #3 below for results of autopsy on the light design/failure.I admit I was nervous spending this kind of money on a fountain, but it is sizable and the pump is impressive for all the water it has to push (5ive foot head of pressure). Owned for over three months now and not disappointed. Some things we've learned:1) Algae forms quickly < two months, much quicker if you don't use distilled water. Highly recommend algae control even if you do use distilled water, especially if the fountain is directly exposed to the sun. Cleaning is tedious.2) Evaporation rates are high, but this is no fault of the manufacturer, obviously. You will be refilling the fountain at least weekly and if you aren't keeping a couple gallons of distilled water per week on hand, you might want to add a trickle water system to refill. If you have an existing sprinkler and timer system with a way to tap in a drip system would be easiest way to manage refilling.3) As mentioned, one of the lights came chipped (the fountain is well packaged/insulated, and would not have been caused by shipping damage). A) So light A was likely due to damage in the factory and no fault of the design. B) With that said, a second set of lights began to stop working (at first two of the six LEDS were off, it eventually became 4 LEDs off, so it wasn't a power cord issue). The typical Alpine lights are mounted using a taurus (donut) shaped ring of 6 LEDs exposed upward and simply sits on a plastic dowel in each of the fountain 'pools.' It's a great design and effect and LEDs are usually robust and can last years... so I suspect there is a sealing issue between the LEDs and the upper casing that hold them in place on the upper face (the lower face of the case is well sealed and shows no way for water to intrude via seepage from where the power cable enters). Had the power wires been shorted due to leakage, none of the LEDs would work.I used a bandsaw to cut across the diameter face and the two power (12 volt) wires looked well sealed throughout. If water is seeping in, it appears it is from the LED upper face where the LEDs are exposed above the donut face. When a second cut was taken across the epoxy that fills in around the LEDs, it appeared voids were visible where water could seep in and eventually contact the LED wire probes, but I could not confirm it as the entire cavity of the mounting 'donut' is filled in with some epoxy after the circuit is soldered. Bottom line, I suspect there is a slow leak since all the lights worked for weeks before LEDs started to no longer light up. It might be avoidable if a clear sealant is applied across the upper face where plastic housing meets the LEDs, but you'll want to do this before operating the fountain, obviously.SUMMARYSo long as Alpine is willing to send replacement lights, I don't have a complaint as the lights are easy to swap out. The water sound is perfect and the design of water flow to minimize spray is well designed using clever very porous sponge like material to briefly dam water in pools. Keep in mind that algae forming on these sponges will reduce flow and eventually cause the small water falls to spray more over time, which is why my #1 recommendation is to use an algae control with the water.
