DIY Inexpensive Grout Refresher - Looks Okay, Tedious
I purchased this grout pen to help freshen up my master bath grout. We were looking for inexpensive ways that would make a big visual difference without breaking the bank. This definitely was a win for the price. I even like the way it turned out overall. The after really does look a worlds better than the before.I'm giving 3 stars though, because the process is tedious and takes a fairly long amount of time to apply. The actual applicator is a little annoying to use and you have to continually pump the tip or it becomes dry and then you end up wearing it down. This causes you to lose precision during application. I made sure that I had a wet towel with me so I could wipe away areas that I went over and got some on the tile.With our before grout being a dark gray/brown, I did have to apply 2 coats of the white for it to actually appear white. Without 2 coats you start to see the old grout show through. It dries permanent and has looked great since application, no fading!!If your old grout has a bunch of cracks or is chipping, this might not be the most ideal product for you as it does not hide those imperfections very well. The most ideal for fairly decent grout that needs a refresh!

I'm giving 3 stars though, because the process is tedious and takes a fairly long amount of time to apply. The actual applicator is a little annoying to use and you have to continually pump the tip or it becomes dry and then you end up wearing it down. This causes you to lose precision during application. I made sure that I had a wet towel with me so I could wipe away areas that I went over and got some on the tile.
With our before grout being a dark gray/brown, I did have to apply 2 coats of the white for it to actually appear white. Without 2 coats you start to see the old grout show through. It dries permanent and has looked great since application, no fading!!
If your old grout has a bunch of cracks or is chipping, this might not be the most ideal product for you as it does not hide those imperfections very well. The most ideal for fairly decent grout that needs a refresh!

Dries fast, easy to use. It does look a little painted on, but it is paint, after all. Ultimately it looks a thousand times better than it did a day ago. I recommend getting both the thin and thick pens and alternating as needed. Keep a damp sponge nearby to wipe any excess off your tile. I’m going to do my second bathroom now in the beige color.
