With the election just days away, our Chief Executive, Dee Corsi, has written in the Evening Standard about the fundamental need to give the business community a seat at the table. The op-ed builds on the recent launch of our West End Manifesto for Growth, in which we outlined our members’ most pressing priorities for any future Government: unlocking economic growth, ensuring our high streets are safe and accessible, and reforming the rigid planning system. Dee Corsi commented, “This election is a rare opportunity to start afresh and set the tone for how businesses and Government can work together to deliver for Britain. Speaking on behalf of our members, we are ready and waiting to partner with any future Government to help set British businesses up for success and deliver much-needed growth for London and for Britain.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e6gNDBHr

Last week we hosted a remarkable evening of true storytelling from our LGBTQIA+ community who shared their stories of self discovery, resilience and pride as part of PROUD West End. A celebration of voice and representation, Oxford Street's PROUD West End, in collaboration with Grosvenor and Heard Storytelling, is a free to visit outdoor audio-visual exhibition championing the stories of the LGBTQIA+ community within London's West End. Featuring a gallery of large-scale ‘living portraits’ PROUD West End is now showing in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair for the next 4 weeks. Find out more information on the exhibition here: https://lnkd.in/ecd9NARs

Wonderful to co-host this event with London Property Alliance (CPA & WPA) earlier this week. It was a fruitful discussion on the future of the West End and the importance of an improved public realm in enhancing the experience of a destination not only for visitors, but for workers and residents alike.
Over 140 guests turned out in force this morning for our #futureoftheWestEnd breakfast seminar, held in partnership with New West End Company at One Great Cumberland Place. Lucy Dowling (Knight Frank) explored the recent trends in West End office space take up and what these trends mean to the future of the area in an office market update. This was followed by an expert panel discussion. Key takeaways included: 🌳 Enhancing the West End’s public realm is vital not only for maintaining its position as a magnet for international investment and tourism, but its appeal to workers and residents too. Dee Corsi (New West End Company) highlighted that the 1.8km development of public realm from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court Road as part of the Oxford Street programme is predicted to increase footfall by five to 10 per cent, generating an additional £2.8bn in sales over the first five years post-completion. 🏬 We are witnessing a flight to quality when it comes to available office space as employers seek best-in-class offices with amenities to lure workers back to the office and attract and retain talent. The tightening of Grade A supply coming forward was identified as a key risk to the future success of the area. 🛍 The crack down on Oxford Street’s candy stores and poor-quality retail is at an all-time low post-pandemic. Shoppers are increasingly looking for more experiential-based retail and leisure, which is helping to bring exciting new occupiers to the West End. New cultural amenities such as the forthcoming Moco Museum next to One Great Cumberland Place are opening up. Thank you to our speakers: Simon Loomes (The Portman Estate), Dee Corsi (New West End Company), Lucy Dowling (Knight Frank), Holly Harrington (GPE) and Andrew Hearne (The Crown Estate). Thank you to New West End Company for partnering with us on this event and The Portman Estate for hosting us.
