MAD//FEST was back this week, bigger and better than ever... Here are our top 3 takeaways so far: 1️⃣ Retail Media Networks: With access to robust first-party data, retail media is set to lead the charge and dominate in the cookieless era. As outlined in a panel with Kate Blaxill, Enterprise Sales Director at InfoSum and Stephen Shepherd, Media Proposition Director at Tesco Media – this offers retailers a significant advantage in matching, segmenting, and measuring, creating massive opportunities for both retailers and advertisers alike. 2️⃣ From Mad//Men to AI Teams: The advertising world is undergoing a transformation reminiscent of the 'Mad Men' era. AI-driven marketing is revolutionising the industry, enabling data-driven strategies that enhance campaign effectiveness and personalisation. As highlighted by Salvatore Internullo of MINT and Rio Longacre of Slalom, embracing AI is crucial for modern marketers. 3️⃣ Fortune Favours the Bold: It's essential for marketers to take an active role in decision-making across all levels, from conception to execution. Bold ideas and innovative approaches shouldn't be confined to the c-suite but embraced throughout the organisation to drive business forward. #MadFest2024 #RetailMedia #AIMarketing #InnovationInMarketing #FutureOfAdvertising Mary Keane-Dawson Luke Wilcoxson Pierre Naggar Tom Jenen Brandon K. Female representation has been high on the agenda at Cannes and it’s not just women who recognise the need for change. Senior leaders across the board are increasingly aware of the importance of this issue, and while progress is being made, there's still a way to go. It’s crucial that diversity becomes second nature, rather than a box to tick. This is a fundamental foundation upon which GingerMay has been built and we’re striving for a world where balanced panels and leadership are the norm, not the exception. Naomi Schilling shared her favourite moments of Cannes: 👉 The Power of Thinking Differently: Why Supporting Neurodiverse Women Can Be Rocket Fuel for Business Today. This insightful panel from The Female Quotient delved into how embracing neurodiverse women can drive business success. By thinking differently and supporting diverse perspectives, companies can unlock incredible potential and innovation. 👉 Digital Leading Ladies Lunch: A phenomenal gathering of women who are trailblazers in the tech industry. It was inspiring to hear about the impact that these women are having in the advertising space today. #Cannes2024 #WomenInLeadership #EqualityMatters #DiversityAndInclusion #FemaleRepresentation

It's a wrap for Team GingerMay in Cannes! It's been another insightful and exciting week on the Croisette, here are some of our key takeaways as the week draws to a close: 🛒 Retail Media is growing: Jacquelyn Baker from Omnicom Commerce explained the nuances between commerce media, retail media, and shoppable media at Beet.TV. Additionally, Vudoo, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and NewsCorp Inc Australia came together at the VideoWeek Villa to explore the opportunities created by unlimited shopfronts. 🌱 Investment in sustainability is crucial: In a panel hosted by Scope3, GARM’s Robert Rakowitz and Ad Net Zero’s Anthony Falco discussed the flexibility and customisation of their new sustainability framework, aiming to foster industry-wide adoption. They hope it will provide tools to change behaviours and promote a movement toward a more sustainable industry. 📹 Human vs. AI: VideoWeek held a panel on the future of video media buying and the growing application of AI. Paul Briggs from Silverpush emphasised that AI is valuable for laborious tasks but human intelligence is essential for ensuring brand safety. Liz Duff from Total Media agreed that AI excels in understanding creative effectiveness at scale, both pre and post-campaign, but human input is crucial for safeguarding brand suitability. Natasha Wallace from Jellyfish added that while AI is cost-efficient, brands should reinvest their savings into human-driven operations. #Cannes2024 #RetailMedia #Sustainability #AI #VideoMedia #MarketingInnovation Victoria Usher, Matthew Usher, Kirsty Langan, Delyth Hughes, Naomi Schilling, Naomi Whittome, Geneviève Benoit, Christian Northwood, Kishan Mistry, Noémie de Villoutreys, Alice Howey, Lauren Jones, Luke Bohanan

Day two of Cannes was filled with insightful panels and inspiring discussions. Here are some standout moments: 🌱 Responsible media is everyone's priority: Brands aiming to prioritise purpose alongside profit must create an aligned corporate vision and ensure they walk the walk, not just talk the talk. It’s everyone's responsibility to bring this conversation to clients and partners to ensure we do better. 🚀 Maximising effectiveness and creativity through tech is key: An engaging panel hosted by Francesca Cassidy, Managing Editor at Raconteur | B Corp™ reflected on integrating AI efficiencies into businesses. For both brands and consumers, it’s easy to feel behind when it comes to AI, but in reality, the technology is still in its infancy. 💡The industry needs to share best practice: Cannes Can: Diversity Collective featured a powerful panel discussion with Alissa Hansen, Micheal Rocca, Tony Hobley, and Carl Willoughby. They explored the intersection of AI, wellbeing, inclusion, and equity in marketing, highlighting the potential impact of AI-driven campaigns on diverse identities. Laurie Keith, VP of Emerging Media & Technology at Ad Council, reminded us, "We are all in learning mode. The industry needs to share best practices. If brands or agencies have found a process that works for them, share it.” #CannesLions #Diversity #Sustainability #AI #MarketingInnovation Alex Collmer, Beet.TV, VideoWeek, Paul Rowlinson, MSc, Jay Stevens, Lucia Mastromauro, Anna Spanfeller, Jana Jakovljevic, Nicole Papola, Anna Forbes, Tamara Littleton, Rachel Fang, Manuela C., Alexander Igelsböck, Fabio De Bernardi
