During our last Sharing Lunch, Kathrin Pinter - Project Leader, and Camila Araújo - Senior Consultant in the MIC-HUB Mobility Planning Team, presented the Greater Muscat Structure Plan (GMSP). The interdisciplinary project - where MIC-HUB led the mobility strategies - is a strategic instrument to transform Muscat, the capital city of Oman. The plan evolved from the national and regional spatial strategies to focus on how Oman's largest city can address some of its key challenges and create a more sustainable and liveable future. The GMSP is now underway, with a time horizon between 2022 and 2040. Many thanks to Kathrin and Camila for their insightful presentation!

Via della Conoscenza is a transformative project that aims to connect a large part of Bologna's territory and enhance the city's cultural, social and historical heritage. The initiative envisages a continuous, high quality and safe route that promotes sustainable travel, while creating strong links between Bologna's main centres of scientific education and technological research and its neighbourhoods, parks, gardens and transport networks. The project is conceived as a corridor of public space that not only integrates the existing urban fabric, but also lays the foundation for socially aware urban regeneration initiatives. Via della Conoscenza will connect planned urban developments with the city's cultural, environmental and historical centres, particularly in the north-western quadrant. MIC-HUB’s contribution focuses on residents’ quality of life, providing opportunities for multimodal transport and promoting tourism by highlighting the unique value of the areas crossed. The new route’s integration with existing infrastructure and the promotion of cycling will have a positive impact on both the daily commute and leisure travel. Beyond the physical infrastructure, the project calls for dedicated signage, graphic design, communications, innovation and technology to establish its identity. Micro-plazas or hubs will be strategically placed along the route to provide new uses for urban spaces, encouraging community engagement and synergies between users. Ultimately, Via della Conoscenza is much more than a cycle path; it is an active, flexible and coordinated urban infrastructure that reinterprets and redistributes Bologna's urban spaces. Through its focus on sustainable mobility, the project offers a vision of a dynamic and interconnected cityscape in the ongoing evolution of Bologna's identity. MIND (the Milan Innovation District) is today building the city of the future. We are delighted to be working on the development of an innovative, sustainable and technologically advanced mobility strategy that reflects the soul of the new district. It is regenerating the area of the 2015 Milan Expo and is the result of a public and private partnership between Arexpo s.p.a. and Lendlease. The MIC-HUB project is the result of strategies and solutions for multiple aspects, including experimental micro-mobility, parking, logistics, integration of new technologies, data analysis and management policies, which together contribute to shaping the mobility of the new Campus. A specific study of travel movements and a feasibility analysis of collective transport are the basis for realising a shared system for the sustainable movement of more than 60,000 people who are expected to move around the MIND district every day. The study introduces a new concept of mobility, making MIND the ideal place to develop innovative projects, and experimentwith and test out future models of urban mobility: a district at the forefront of the national and international scene. The construction site for the redevelopment of the area around the Teatro della Scala in Milan is progressing. The project, designed by Leopoldo Freyrie Freyrie Flores Architettura and MIC-HUB, and financed by Ardian, will give back to pedestrians a safe, quality public space in the heart of the historic city centre. This will be achieved through the extension and redistribution of space and a revision of the vehicular road system in the area of Via Santa Margherita and Piazza Paolo Ferrari. Enhancing the pedestrian experience, the regeneration project fosters sustainable change in Milan. These small transformations in the urban space can determine huge changes in the city! The construction site for the north-west access to Ferrara is about to begin! This new project marks the start of a redesign of the existing suburban road network. This area is vital for access to Ferrara but it is out of character with the heritage of the city due to its wide roads, limited space for pedestrians and cyclists, and low quality green islands. MIC-HUB has developed an infrastructure plan to enhance safety for vulnerable road users, promote cycling, improve green spaces, and optimise vehicular traffic. The regeneration project will transform the north-west gateway and its infrastructure to support the development and reorganisation of the whole urban area. On behalf of the Municipality of Ferrara, MIC-HUB has led a working group together with Studio Silva, Stain and CST to develop the project, which the construction companies SINTEXCAL SPA and Boschiva start building today. MIC-HUB's design for the public space focuses on three main elements: - The reorganisation of the street hierarchy, - The redevelopment of the cycle and pedestrian network, - The regeneration of the urban landscape. The project will prioritise pedestrians, cyclists and vulnerable users by reducing the space for cars and creating gardens and a pedestrian-cycle network. It will also provide links to and from Ferrara, connecting the area to the VenTo cycle route, the longest bicycle pathway in Italy. The project will create a clear, navigable network for all citizens, ensuring comprehensive connectivity. A better city is possible! MIC-HUB worked as mobility expert with Hines, Prelios, KPF, LAND, Leopoldo Freyrie, STARCHING and Consorzio Leonardo Servizi e Lavori to develop a community-oriented project and a new, vibrant urban destination.
𝐄𝐱 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 “𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒” We are proud to announce that the urban regeneration of Ex Trotto Milano has been awarded “Project of Italy” at the annual event hosted by il Quotidiano Immobiliare - Daily Real Estate. The jury recognized the innovative social impact of this project, which transforms a disused area into a predominantly pedestrian and sustainable #urban district. Our vision for a new #green paradigm for the city of Milan culminates in a #resilient system of parks and public spaces. The ancient horse track has been reinterpreted into a ring-shaped linear park, featuring "1 km of biodiversity" and "1 km of community", that offers playgrounds and equipped areas for #community #wellbeing. This #inclusive, intergenerational infrastructure boasting around 500 trees embraces a network of cycle paths, housing solutions, public interest services, a new urban market for social reintegration and sport activities, and restored historic buildings to accommodate new educational and commercial services.
