Siamo entusiasti di entrare a fare parte di Clean Cities Campaign, il network diffuso in 18 paesi europei che grazie ad azioni dirette e mobilitazioni agisce ogni giorno per restituire centralità alle persone e diminuire l’impronta delle auto nelle nostre città. Mobilità in città sarà coinvolta in attività di Policy Research e School Streets per aumentare la consapevolezza sui problemi legati alla mobilità urbana e contribuire al cambiamento. Insieme alla coalizione europea, ci impegneremo ogni giorno per portare avanti i pilastri su cui si basa la campagna Clean Cities: • Riallocare lo spazio pubblico a favore del verde urbano e della mobilità pedonale e ciclabile, dando quindi la priorità alle persone; • Promuovere e investire nel trasporto pubblico e nella mobilità condivisa; • Eliminare progressivamente i veicoli con motore endotermico dalle nostre città; • Consentire la circolazione nelle nostre città solo ad automobili e veicoli commerciali a zero emissioni entro il 2030. We have come to the end of the second Workshop “Transport Planning: From Theory to Practice” organised by the foundation mobilità in città and MIC-HUB at Politecnico di Milano.   It was a pleasure working with such amazing professionals and bright students to understand how unequal distribution of mobility capabilities can exacerbate social exclusion and systemic inequalities.   On the last day, the students presented their projects for the Corvetto area of Milan. We were also treated to a stimulating talk about the importance of racial equity in transportation by Charles T. Brown, MPA, CPD as the special guest speaker on the final day of our workshop on Transport Planning: from Theory to Practice at Politecnico di Milano.   Charles T. Brown, MPA, CPD is the author of Arrested Mobility, a podcast that investigates laws on local housing, transportation and public space that enable the racially discriminatory policing of Black Americans in the United States and around the world.   He is the founder and principal of Equitable Cities LLC, a minority-owned urban planning, public policy and research firm at the intersection of transportation, health and equity.     We are eager to hear more about his work in the fields of #transport and public space and his active research on #injustice, #equity and marginalised #micromobility users.   📆 Please contact us for more details if you are interested in attending the online lecture with Charles T. Today marks the end of the first week of the workshop Transport Planning: from Theory to Practice at Politecnico di Milano.   We thank the guest speakers for their inspiring lectures and valuable insights: Isabella Inti, CEO of Temporiuso and co-director of M-US-T Master Temporary Uses at Politecnico di Milano; Maria Giulia Cantaluppi and Francesca Tridello, architects at Temporiuso; Mirko Franzoi, project leader at MIC-HUB ; Aubrey Toldi, Ph.D. in Urban Planning, Design, & Policy at Politecnico di Milano; Diego Schettino, activist; Gaia Sgaramella, head of mobilità in città foundation; Elisa Privitera, postdoc researcher at the University of Toronto.   This week, we involved the students in a “Learn by doing” exercise.   They carried out an intensive on-site exploration of the Corvetto area of Milan to understand the real challenges and needs of the local community in that area and to gain an in-depth knowledge of its physical characteristics.     The students’ ongoing research activities next week will contribute to planning and designing better solutions. VIA LIBERA, la grande mappatura della sosta irregolare di Milano organizzata da Sai che puoi, ha avuto luogo giovedì 16 maggio, con un grande riscontro di pubblico e associazioni. Erano presenti più di 2.000 persone organizzate in 800 squadre, che dalle 18 all’una di notte, hanno mappato tutte le 3.873 vie di Milano. Il risultato? 63.990 auto in sosta irregolare in una sola sera a Milano. Queste non sono solo auto parcheggiate ma è spazio pubblico sottratto alle persone, più di 547.000 mq di spazio occupato da automobili che tolgono spazio alle persone e ai mezzi di trasporto più sostenibili. Il dato raccolto costituisce una fotografia della situazione della sosta irregolare su spazio pubblico all’interno di una certa fascia oraria (ore 18-22) che è stata scelta per massimizzare la partecipazione delle persone, ma che comprende la fascia oraria in cui si registrano maggiori spostamenti e congestione (ore 18-19) e quindi minor sosta, nonché quella (ore 19-22) in cui le auto dei residenti fuori Milano (ogni giorno entrano a Milano da fuori più di 600.000 auto) hanno già lasciato la città. Il dato è quindi sottostimato, rispetto sia al totale delle auto in sosta irregolare in tutta la città nell’intera giornata, sia rispetto al totale delle potenziali infrazioni per divieto di sosta: la mappatura si è concentrata sullo spazio ingiustamente occupato e non sul verificare pass residenti / non residenti, occupazione indebita di posti auto per disabili etc. L’obiettivo di VIA LIBERA è stato quello di aumentare la consapevolezza sul problema della sosta irregolare per cambiare le nostre abitudini e la città in una sfera culturale, con politiche di cambiamento e rafforzando la qualità degli spazi a supporto del trasporto pubblico, della pedonalità e della ciclabilità. Street for Kids: unisciti a noi per chiedere più strade scolastiche. Streets for Kids è la campagna per chiedere strade scolastiche davanti a ogni scuola e città a misura di bambini. Le strade scolastiche sono spazi accessibili intorno alle scuole, zone pedonali e ciclabili che disincentivano il traffico veicolare per dare priorità agli spostamenti a piedi e in bici. Spazi più sicuri e meno inquinati dove giocare, che incoraggiano bambini e genitori a spostarsi a piedi e con mezzi sostenibili. È ora di rendere tutta la città a misura di bambino partendo da una rete di infrastrutture adatte alla mobilità sostenibile, sempre più sicura e inclusiva. Con fondazione mobilità in città siamo attivi in varie città italiane per realizzare diversi interventi di strade scolastiche. Mobility is essential to people’s daily lives, providing access to resources and opportunities. However, the unequal distribution of mobility resources exacerbates social exclusion and systemic inequalities, disproportionately affecting marginalised communities. The unequal distribution of mobility capabilities is problematic on several levels. Mobility justice, equity and other related topics will be addressed in this year’s workshop entitled Transport Planning: From Theory To Practice. The workshop is held by mobilità in città and MIC-HUB at Politecnico di Milano. In this workshop, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the role of transport planning in promoting sustainable, liveable and equitable communities. By examining the spatial distribution of road crashes involving marginalised micromobility users, they will uncover socio-economic and demographic factors that contribute to social segregation within micromobility spaces. We are delighted to present the 2024 edition of ‘Transport Planning: From Theory to Practice’! The workshop is organised by the foundation mobilità in città together with MIC-HUB at the Politecnico di Milano to promote a mobility culture focused on inclusivity and accessibility.   Mobility is essential to people's daily lives, providing access to resources and opportunities. However, the unequal distribution of mobility resources exacerbates social exclusion and systemic inequalities, disproportionately affecting marginalised communities.   In this workshop, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the role of transport planning in promoting sustainable, liveable and equitable communities. By examining the spatial distribution of road crashes involving marginalised micromobility users, they will uncover socio-economic and demographic factors that contribute to social segregation within micromobility spaces.   The workshop aims to challenge prevailing paradigms that perpetuate unequal mobility distribution and to address mobility injustice in planning, design and policy-making. With a specific focus on micromobility users in disadvantaged neighbourhoods, participants will assess their needs and risks in accessing infrastructure.   The workshop will provide hands-on learning opportunities.
