A recent revelation by Nobel laureate Alice Munro's daughter has shed light on the issue of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA). Andrea Skinner's disclosure of abuse by her stepfather and her mother's decision to not act on it is not an isolated incident. It is a reflection of cultural norms which silence victims and reinforce CSA. As Manjeer Mukherjee, Senior Director, Arpan, states in this article, 'Establishing safe spaces where children can discuss their concerns without fear of judgement is necessary. Building a support network of adults who understand that keeping children safe is the responsibility of every adult is key. In essence, a paradigm shift is required to move from a culture of silence and disbelief to one of support and proactive engagement'. We must come together to create a safer environment for children. Read the full The Times Of India article and share your thoughts on how we can drive this change together. By breaking the silence and providing support, we can prevent CSA and empower victims to heal and thrive. Link: https://bit.ly/4bKdnwa #PreventionMatters #EndCSA

🌟 Attended an Enlightening Session on Child Protection Policy by Arpan NGO in Mumbai🌟 I recently had the opportunity to attend a highly engaging session on a child protection policy organized by Arpan NGO in Mumbai. The session was both insightful and interactive, featuring various activities and roleplays that brought the subject to life. Key points discussed included: 🔹 The Importance of Child Protection: Understanding the need for safeguarding children from abuse and harm. 🔹 Code of Conduct: Guidelines and best practices for implementing and adhering to child protection policies. Some crucial elements of the child protection policy we explored were: - Zero Tolerance to Abuse: Establishing a strict no-abuse policy in all settings. - Mandatory Reporting: Ensuring all cases of suspected or confirmed abuse are reported to the relevant authorities. - Safe Environment: Creating and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for children. - Training and Awareness: Regular training sessions for staff, volunteers, and stakeholders on child protection issues and protocols. The session was a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and nurture the future generation. Kudos to Arpan NGO for organizing such a vital and impactful event! #ChildProtection #ArpanNGO #SocialWork #ChildSafety #CommunityEngagement

We are thrilled to share that an exclusive interview of Pooja Taparia, Arpan’s Founder & CEO, was featured in The Navhind Times, largest circulated English daily in Goa. What makes it even more special is that Goa has been one of our key partners in championing the integration of Arpan’s curriculum into the State’s education system, with government agencies like the Goa State Council for Educational Research and Training (GSCERT), the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) and the Goa Education Development Corporation (GEDC) collaborating with Arpan. Arpan is deeply grateful to Ms. Disha Pinky Shaikh for her inspiring talk on dismantling gender diversity and inclusion. True diversity cannot exist until we break free from the preconceived boxes of gender roles and identities. Disha's message highlighted the importance of EVERYONE being part of the conversation, especially cisgender allies. Every voice is crucial in challenging norms that perpetuate inequity. It made us reflect on the responsibility of all of us, who work with children. By fostering values of inclusion and equity, we can shape the future generation. These children will be the nation builders of tomorrow, and by equipping them to embrace diversity and challenge societal norms, we can create a more equitable future for all. Together, we can build a world where everyone thrives as Human Beings, unencumbered by societal expectations. Our journey of unlearning and learning on this issue has just begun. Share in the comments below how you have been able to be more inclusive and gender diverse. Let's keep the conversation going!  #GenderEquality #InclusionMatters #BreakTheBias #EmbraceEquity
